Well, let's review what we did with those three TCU turnovers. They are momentum turners after all -- or so I'm told. And it doesn't matter where on the field they come.

First fumble -- Can't move it and punt
Second fumble -- drive down and miss a field goal
Interception -- Can't move it and allow a punt return for a touchdown.

OK,
TCU turnovers -- 3 -- Great for the defense
SMU points off turnovers -- 0 -- real opportunistic weren't we.

And I so can't wait for the counter argument that two of those turnovers were inside our 15 so we can't expect the offense to drive and get points out of it.

But wait a minute, because I didn't watch the game, I really don't qualify to answer this thread. I should know better -- SO SAY THE MILITANT SUNSHINERS!!!

oh come on-its a forum to discuss football-more specifically the SMU/TCU game. What are you afraid of? You actually might learn something from a new perspective. Plus he's been posting on this board for about 6 years longer than you.

Let's be honest...you guys couldn't really drive the ball the entire night. Two shovel passes for big gains (interestingly - on the postgame show Gary P. said they told the defense that second shovel pass was coming and we still blew it) and maybe two long completions.

Until you all show some sort of running game it's going to be tough to beat anybody besides D1AA and mid-level CUSA teams. At least the good Tech offenses could mix in the run and it was a real threat. Don't need to rush for 200 yds per game but have to keep defense off balance. Maybe more screen plays???

We're discussing football, no? Is that not what this board is for?

If I'm wrong, and this forum is only for self-reinforcing koolaid-drinking (read: the SMU equivalent of TexasAgs.com or BaylorFans.copm), fine. I'll bid you gentlemen adieu. See you next year.

You're possibly the only person in America who thinks so. Take off the red-and-blue glasses and watch the replay. And remember -- booth officials don't overrule a call on the field unless they have what they consider irrefutable video evidence that the call was mistaken.

"irrefutable evidence" should never take 20 minutes to decide.

Scott...I've been posting here for a long time. Hope SMU can turn it around (big picture) and get the rivalry back where it belongs.

it's pretty clear TCU has a much better team than SMU these days. They've been building on success for 10 years while we are just trying to work out way out of that "bottom 10" stigma. I really do believe JJ and his staff will get this turned around, but as he's repeatedly said (for anyone who cares to listen) we are a couple of recruiting classes away from being competitive against quality teams.

now that doesn't mean we aren't going to upset some more teams along the way. Who expected UTEP to whup up on Houston last night? These guys haven't put together a really strong showing yet. I sure hope they can do it in one of the next 2 weeks. We need to be winning at home against CUSA opponents

Thats cool...thanks it would be fun for the Metroplex to have meaningful TCU/SMU games and to have them played late in the season ( November around Thanksgiving time would be nice )like many other rivalries around the country....
