Yeah, there were a couple of things some of you may have missed...for one thing the rain was coming down very hard most of the game (were any of you actually at the game?), the wind was eratic and Bo got smothered early and often on TCU sacks. I think all those contibuted to a poor performance, not the least of which was one of the best defenses in nation. At this point I don't believe that JJ has a second option yet. I was disappointed in Bo's perfromance, but he is the only "horse" in the stable for the moment, maybe when he get his weight back, and a dry field he might get his confidence back if we give him some slack...what other choice do we have?

Yeah, Bo's not good. I'd like to see him reviewing the tape and explaining exactly what was going through his mind on both of those picks. Dude really needs to learn to throw it away every now and then.
On the plus side, at least they didn't go for 6.

The sad thing is, I think that's what he was trying to do there! It looked like he was trying to throw it away but threw it too parallel with the sideline....just amazing. I'm not going to bash a 19-year old kid the way some of you jerks do, but I really have to think that JJ is going to consider the QB competition pretty open for next season - with Padron, McDermott, and even Smith out there BLM will have to work for it.

Most likely Smith will leave. He was a good qb in hs and will find a place where someone needs a good game manager he can sit and still have two years to play.

you are probably right about smith and wouldn't blame him. Just like can't blame willis for not sticking around to play wide frickin receiver. If you can't get a shot when a guy is sick and imploding with bad picks and overthrows, at some point soon you gotta conclude that you aren't gonna get a chance.

I was there. There isn't a rainstorm strong enough to justify either of those throws. Minor accuracy issues and dropped passes are attributable to rain. Blatant no-brainers have no weather-based explanation unless he gets depressed when the Sun goes away. Those picks were awful.
We've never lost the tailgate.

What wind? I don't recall any wind at all, so I don't think that's a viable excuse for poor accuracy. I'm fine attributing a portion of it to the other named reasons, but wind wasn't one of them.

On the bright side, it was the prettiest pass he threw all night.

"What wind"? Yes, did you see the pre-game and half-time punts and field goal practice? It was obvious something besides rain was effecting Matt's kicks, especially toward that edifice of a barn that they refer to as their "sky boxes" or "frog cages".

I could be wrong, but it seems like the rain that we could see falling was coming pretty much straight down.
