Peruna isn't going anywhere...I Hope...

SMU does not own or pay for Peruna's upkeep. Peruna is donated by and cared for by the Culwells of Culwell and Son clothing store on Hillcrest across from the SMU campus.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

But I believe this whole thing has turned into an opportunity to advance a political cause that Pickens and whoever else involved is using SMU to advance it.

They are using the shield of "adding to Peruna".

EXACTLY. No one could argue that the lady's concern for these horses is a worthy cause. She was needing something to do between trips to Stillwater and zeroed in on this - no argument here. But, don't get your "it's-all-about-me time" and publicity at the expense of an important SMU tradition. In other words, cancel the horses and you'll have plenty of time to tailgate before the OSU vs Missouri game that evening in Stillwater.

There is little to no student involvement in the games which causes them to leave early. from my experience the games they stay longest have been vs. TCU (rival) and any homecoming game.

At the TCU game I sat right in front of 50-60 students that seemed like true fans! It was very encouraging.
