Maybe this is all smoke and mirrors, and Braden Smith starts at QB? Who knows...I think I would be happiest with Padron at QB at this point, and let him redshirt next year when McDermott is eligible.

When I was a kid a 2X4 across my [deleted] used to focus my attention, maybe if Sanders used one
upside Bo's head it will have the same effect.

I think you guys are really reading a lot into that statement. Padron's not going to play unless there is a major injury. Also might want to get someone else other than Sanders to prompt Mitchell to go through all his reads because right now he is ONLY reading Sanders.

True, since an ulcer, swine flu, lazy eye, and INT-ARM don't count as major.

If your limiting the "statement" to Kate's article, you are right. But, when you hear the coaches speak, especially June, he sounds like he has all but lost his patience--"both teams had to play with the same wet ball", "I have never heard of a quarterback running out of steam", on the first interception, "well I don't know what he was trying to do", are pretty indicative--especially when they are all delivered with the same p.o.'d expression.

JJ should be pissed. Bo is making him look bad and taking away from his offensive guru reputation. in truth though, unless bo is not practicing hard or not doing something else basic, JJ has no one to be pissed at but himself for setting this up.

No your reading too much into those statements too. The game was over Saturday Nite-if he didn't play Padron Saturday he ain't going to play him unless there was an emergency. That's the evidence-not vague comments typical of any coach. It would be supremely stupid to blow Padron's redshirt year in this situation. How many more freshman disasters are we going to have to sit through until you guys figure this out. We've seen at least 15 years of freshman disasters-one after another. Always looking for the quick answer rather than having the patience to build the program the right way. When Padron is a Redshirt Senior he is going to be about 6-4, 225 and we probably are going to be very happy Jones didn't listen to this BS. Go ask the fans of UT, Texas Tech, Houston, Tulsa et al if they would trade a redshirt year for their present QBs future Senior Year.

First, kudos to hoopfan on his entry. Sometimes your own ego gets in the way. I think he's painted himself into a corner for the next tw years. Unless someone comes off the bench, there's going to be one - the walkon mcdermott - who will have college experience besides picksix.

Second, keeper I hear and agree with you but Kate brought up Padron. Why wasn't Smith mentioned since we're told he's the backup? Frustration may have summoned the comment. Jones needed to be careful. Padron should not even dress for games.

I think you have a coaching staff now very concerned about how it evaluated the position when it got here and thougt it would spin its magic.

For you militant sunshiners you may have to consider your boy screwed up.

I think most agree Bo works hard at practice, but somehow some of it is getting lost at game time. At TCU he not only failed to check off his progressions, but he rushed his passes in such a way his feet weren't setup properly. I was hoping it was the weather, his illness(es), but it has been suggested that something is simply lost come game time. June's problem is he simply has very limited options-Padron's redshirt? or work through Bo's problem. The depth problem comes down to recruiting, remember Bo was the product of a ten day of recruiting effort. We were in the hunt for a second qb, a top junior college player that ended up at UCLA. Whether it is Junes fault or 20 years of ineptitude it doesn't matter, but June's certainly between a rock and hard place now.

Stallion, I hope you are right. My only rebuttal would be that we have only played one conference game and if the coaching staff feels committed to having a respectible season, it wouldn't be too late to consider a change. If Bo doesn't wake up Saturday, I believe Padron will burn his redshirt as quickly as ten days. Bad qb play infects the entire team. Like I said, I hope your right, and I hope Bo can get back on track.
One more thing, you know full well that Texas, OU, Tech, etc. had other options besides playing a "true" freshman. But put in our shoes, with no second option, can you imagine the pressure these coaches would have been under to play a big time freshman if they were looking even a single losing season due their qb play? You really think these coaches would have survived by not making changes? Let me understand, Redshirt? or Saving my career?

I would bet his mental fatigue is directly tied to his physical fatigue as he recovers from his various ailments.
Continued good health, Bo.

Wasn't Bo recruited to Hawaii by JJ and then followed JJ to SMU?
