This message is spomsored by the SMU Athletic Department

I LOVE these "open letters"...reminds me of the time MM1865 got in "Turner's face" on the 'vard...what a bunch of tools.

I would never get in Turner's face...that is not my style. But I also don't sugar coat things, that is not my style either.

I happen to be just as accomplished in my field as Turner and Orsini are in theirs. While my letter is blunt, I don't think there is one part of it that is inaccurate.

And, no, I would never send a letter to either gentlemen without signing my name to it.

I will let you know if either responds.

SoCal Pony,

I think you are way off base associating Orsini with the last 20 years. He has done more to correct the huge errors of the last 20 years than any of us could have ever dreamed. The horrible performance on the field over the last 20 years has had everything to do with the model put in place post DP, a model that was so bad, that it will take more than a few years to undo the damage that it did.

Also, I am not a Turner fan, but he has been a huge supporter of the athletic program and the football program. If we had a President, like Pye, who did not support the Football program the way Turner has, we might be a 1-AA program. The Blvd, Ford Stadium, Orsini, Crum Center, would not have happened if we did not have a President like Turner who believes in the importance of successful football program.

I think your letter should have addressed the loss of tradition with the mascot change as opposed to associating it with the lack of success on the field.

Go Ponies,

Dwan

Good letter - SoCal!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
