Dear Steve, take your letter and stuff it!

Postby George S. Patton » Tue Oct 13, 2009 1:06 pm

Sir,
If you go back and re-read what you sent out on Oct. 12, that you fanned the flames of distrust and frustration between fans and alums and the university. Not only do I find this to cloud Peruna's future, I'm also concerned about what other traditions will be jeopardized. This also adds to my doubts about you being the leader for athletics.

To have head football coach June Jones be associated with this was a blown calculated move. He should have been nowhere near this.

I'm going to say this in a language you can understand: Peruna is the ONLY mascot for SMU - past, present and future. I hope these horses are well cared for but I don't want them on my campus in the future years. They are pawns in a political movement which SMU doesn't need to be in the middle of.

I don't have a problem evaluating my future of giving to the school should Peruna either have company or is shown the door. The university has done a nice job of driving off its followers with it's lack of commitment to anything.

What does it say when our mascot's existence in question? Just a bad bad idea.

Peruna or AMF

Either keep Peruna solely or its AMF.

I take a lot of comfort in knowing I am not Patton. This makes my day easier.

To actually let something like this get you upset is disturbing. Truly beyond scary. I ask again, why do you exist and could you possibly post like maybe once a year? Thanks.

yes only people 70 years ago get to make traditions....the hell with anybody born after 1930!

it's obvious the younger generation will embrace this....you are like the blue hairs burning the Beatles records in the 1960's......there is no commandment that Peruna can't have a big brother...

General Patton I was not in favor of this, but it's going to happen, get over it, and embrace this new member our our family.

Because unlike you, I don't suck up to people and hope that my dollars will get me in good with the fellas. I know what I believe. And if you don't care about this, then that's up to you.

I DO!

The university is in major backpaddling mode over our mascot. But you just go on telling us how great you are about all of the road trips you have taken, all of gazillions of dollars you've donated and how much better of a Mustang fan you are than the rest of us are because your [deleted] doesn't stink.

You have my apologies. I didn't realize that I was responding to the self-proclaimed leader of SMU fans. Where do I get my hat and t-shirt?

Do me a favor, young man. When you believe in something and truly are passionate about it, let me know. It would be the first time.

I'm done responding to you for the future so the last shot is yours....

I would think you would be very concerned about stripping away the identity of SMU. If everything is replaceable, and there is nothing that makes SMU unique, than why not root for another, already successful team?
The donkey's name is Kiki.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.

How about a passionate ode to guacamole from the General? This is beyond stupid.

Look dude, you're not as bad as jtStang who isn't even a fan at all so I'll give you a pass. But you represent a major faction of our fanbase who are either delusional or completely unwilling to accept any change whatsoever. Peruna isn't going anywhere so mix in a midol into your diet and take it easy. And I have been one of the most critical posters here in regards to the product on the field and our lack of direction at times. However, for the first time in God knows how long, there is a tangible reason to be optomistic and all you geriatric old farts want to do is whine about a freaking HORSE!!!! That is why it is depressing as hell sitting in my season ticket area with a bunch of old zombies who have no clue what's going on with this team and care more about a damn pony and a horse on the sideline. And you, all you do is [deleted] [deleted] [deleted] about every little thing. What a miserable way to go through life.

P.S. Passionate about something? Its not like I planned a vacation around a freaking SMU football game to Washington State or anything or haven't missed a home game since 2001 and have been an annual giver to the Mustang Club and a season ticket holder. Now go get your freaking shinebox.

Let me rephrase. I do not have my identity threatened by a halftime show.

Guys chill. Orsini is replacinga little horse with a big horse. It isn't like Pye who replaced all horses with a building.

When the "younger generation" starts attending football games and sticks around after halftime, I will buy into what you are saying.

so why did we move from the house that Doak built to Texas Stadium? And why did we move from the Cotton Bowl to Ford?
I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.
