Moderator Please Move Horse Discussions

Postby VarsityShop » Tue Oct 13, 2009 3:27 pm

I would like to ask the moderator of PonyFans to move all this horse talk to the "Around the Hilltop" section of PonyFans. Unfortunately this horse talk has basically taken over the discussions of our football section right in the middle of the SMU Mustangs best football season in years. It is really a shame to allow so much "horse chatter" to hijack this special period in SMU football history. This is really embarrassing to think fans from our opponents come over and see this trainwreck of a football discussion board hijacked by non-stop horse talk. Fellows lets talk football in the football section and SMU Mascots in "Around the Hilltop".

VShop, if I did not know your true feelings from an earlier thread, that post would not be so difficult to read

Its relevant because our mascot pretty much ONLY shows up at football games. Peruna doesn't go to basketball games. What is there to say about the football team that hasn't been said this week? How many threads have you started about the football team with new insights that are not on other threads? You are free to chime in with any insights that you have about the great season we're having. We've won two more games than last year so far. If we win three more, there will be lots to talk about. Right now, Coach Jones is probably saying to the kids, "three wins are nice, but you haven't done anything yet". And I hope that is the attitude of the team.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

I highly doubt that Bevo attends basketball games or trackmeets.

How many times today have you told JJ and Orsini, "me love you long time?"

If Orsini did not want to take the focus off the football team, then he should have announced this change during the off season.

My frustration is that for the past 23 years I feel like SMU just shoves things down the throat of those few loyal fans that are left and expects us to sit back and take it (just look at the tone of Orsini's letter). They keep asking more and more of the same folks and they expect us to keep reaching into our pockets and to shut up because they know better.

Regarding traditions, those are the things that tie us to the past and Peruna is one of the few left that allows us to remember that at one point in time we were significant and a player on the national college football landscape.

On top of that, it seems like every time we try to do something new or try to honor the past, we screw it up. Hell, we couldn't even pull off the recognition of the 1989 football team at halftime of the 1st home game (and we had how many months to plan and rehearse that?). I have that sinking feeling that this halftime presentation will include some type of screw-up and we will come across looking amateurish.

Agree.

I'm all for people being able to voice their opinion one way or the other, but; it is hard to find the football discussion without something else being brought up.

The University was clear as to their intentions in their original press conference and followed-up with a letter restating the same.

Several have stated their issues / concerns either directly to University officials or on the PF Football section.

I'm losing interest in PFs. I want to hear about Football in the Football section and assume recruits and others who come on here are looking for the same.

Everything else aside, this is my biggest concern. And I can relate.
