Thanks I just read that report ...pretty good!..... I like that he mentions that the D is getting a real swagger and can see it in practice....

I believe a chop block is defined as the defensive player is already engaged with a block up top, and another offensive player takes him out down low
Correct. The cut block is basically the offensive lineman charging out low right at the knees of the DL, to "cut" them out from under him, usually at an angle. It is done one on one and no other lineman engaging him higher up.

Thanks guys...never too old to learn.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Having experienced two torn ACLs, it is crazy painful just to watch. mrydel wrote:RGV Pony wrote:PK wrote:So what is the difference between a cut block and a chop block, which is illegal? And if cut blocks cause so many injuries why isn't it illegal?

I am really worried about one of our D Line getting hurt in this game! If any of the starting 3 go down it will really effect our D the rest of the year

That line is good and getting better but not deep enough to sustain any injuries...that would suck...
