By NCAA Rule fan message boards are required to maintain independence from the university. The university has no power to control independent message boards. SMU fans overwhelmingly disagree with this football related policy. You can justify it all you want. You are WRONG. SMU Fans decide what is football related and you cratered to SMU pressure. Let's tell the truth not lie to your patrons abot concocted reasons for removal.

If SMU really did this to them, then there is a HUGE paranoia problem going on over there. This has turned into a PR disaster and they can't get out of it.

I'm sure Orsini, Turner and others are absolutely freaking out about what halftime is going to look like.

Well, all I can say is they brought this on themselves and they have to live with whatever reaction they get. And if there's booing and hissing and they are embarrassed and they have to apologize to the botox queen, I won't feel the least bit sorry for them.

When you're not up front with your alums and fan base about everything concerning this, then you get what you deserve.

We ought to all be calling radio sports talk shows to let them know that the halftime show of the SMU-Navy game may (and I stress the word "may") be better than any disaster film ever made. If people hear that there might be a huge newsworthy event at the SMU-Navy game the ratings on CBSC will go through the roof, thus helping us in our quest for a bowl and help CUSA in the next round of TV ratings. And if they actually by some miracle get halftime right, people will simply go back to other programming. If John Feinstein is on locally again this week, I'm going to try and call in since he is the color guy for the Navy games.

BTW, "the Powers" didn't get to us. Clearly, we're not even on their radar screen (if we were, perhaps they would have defused this debacle by now). We just moved the Peruna posts over to the "Around the Hilltop" forum in an effort to keep the football forum all about football, and the Hilltop forum about what's going on on campus.

It was one thing when there were one or two posts about Peruna. Now that there are like 50, we needed to move them to where they belong. If this goes on for too much longer, we may have to start a "Peruna" forum.

Vast majority in the stands will not care. Most will probably not even notice or understand what is going on.

Given the condition on the sound system in Ford, most won't even hear the announcements explaining it.

Most also don't care about SMU.

This is Sad, but dead on. I for one hope that they don't faze Peruna out at all, and I have to trust that the powers that be understand how important Peruna is for a good number of people.

As is too often the case, I have forgotten to thank PonyPride and the Webmaster for providing this forum...we can be a contentious bunch, but are part of the 7500 that still do care about SMU, and even about it's traditions(new, old, or lack thereof).

Agree with the move of the Peruna threads. Mascot talk does belong on Around the Hilltop. Why does everything have to be a conspiracy to some of you?

It's OK if an occasional mascot post appears on the football board, but Pony Pride is right - there were so many Peruna posts it was obscuring the straight football posts. If Around the Hilltop is a "Siberia" that's only because many of you are too lazy or ignorant to click over there once in a while.

[deleted] is a good guy. No need to make it a lickfest and say he's the greatest thing since Blackie Sherrod, but he does provide a service to SMU fans and does it well. When Rivals and Scout had no interest in SMU, Ponyfans was there providing an outlet for this fan base. If you don't like his decisions, get your own message board.
