Early CUSA Bowl Outlook

Postby SmooPower » Thu Oct 15, 2009 11:00 am

CUSA has five guaranteed bowl slots for 2009 with two other tie-ins based on what happens with other teams; largely, the military academies. Navy will more than likely be bowl eligible needing 3 wins in their final 7 games (13 game schedule due to playing Hawaii). CUSA would earn a spot in this game if the Big XII can't fill theirs.

Also in question is if Army will fill their slot in the EagleBank Bowl. Thanks to a last second win over Vanderbilt last weekend (after a heartbreaking loss to Tulane), they need 3 wins over their final 6 games. Rutgers, Air Force and Navy will be challenging games, but Temple, VMI and North Texas are all winnable.

As of today there are 7 CUSA teams at or above .500.

We have a chance to do it. We just need to execute with minimal INTs.

Win our home games and we are golden. Navy is a HUGE game. Can't emphasize it enough how huge a win would be against a quality opponent like Navy.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Beat NAVY and we are in a bowl. Lose and don't think about it.

Navy is not a make or break game for us but it would go a long way towards getting us to where we want to be. We have a better than average shot at winning all four games to end the season. That puts us at 7-5 and in a bowl. Beat Navy and that gives us an outstanding shot at a bowl.
