Two school's fans who value tradition

Postby couch 'em » Thu Oct 15, 2009 11:29 pm

Also, with a Doak reference: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/101609dnmetstadiumdebate.3fdf6ad.html

In conversation after conversation, the same words came up. It's all about setting and all about tradition, the OU fans said. The Cotton Bowl has both.

Tommy Mann, a Dallas lawyer and OU grad, said "tradition is the difference, and that's the reason I never want to see this game leave the Cotton Bowl."
"I think Couchem is right."

I wouldn't say UT values tradition. (See SWC)

UT doesn't value tradition? The SWC was a relic and not economically viable for the bigger institutions. The Death Penalty, Arkansas' departure, and a marginal TV viewing base killed the SWC. Not Texas.
Back off Warchild seriously.

And yet, rumors are already starting to circulate that the game will move not only to Arlinton, but possibly out of Dallas when the contract with the Cotton Bowl ends. I think this game would be dumb as a home and home series, but it almost happened before the last Cotton Bowl renovation.
