High School Game Help ASAP!!!Got some friends in town for the SMU vs Navy game. They all have never been to Texas and want to go to a true Texas High School football game tonight. They want to see big crowd, band, spectacle, etc.
We are in Dallas, sowe don't want to travel too far. Any ideas??? Thank!
Re: High School Game Help ASAP!!!I would do:
Thomas Jefferson vs. Woodrow Wilson -or- Lake Highlands vs. Richardson
Re: High School Game Help ASAP!!!
I live in Lake Highlands so I think that will work. The bands any good? Big?
Re: High School Game Help ASAP!!!Dallas Skyline vs. Berkner or RL Turner vs. HP might not be bad either
Re: High School Game Help ASAP!!!John Tyler plays Mesquite Horn at Mesquite Horn. You can see Jeremy Johnson and Ricky Collins as well.

Re: High School Game Help ASAP!!!
TJ vs Woodrow? You've got to be kidding. The only thing from that game that would be worth anything is TJ's Band. Woodrow is ok in football but their band sucks and TJ's team is just pitiful. In fact, don't think TJ has won a district game in years. LH vs RHS would be the better option of the two.
Re: High School Game Help ASAP!!!
I thought it was Tyler vs. Mesquite? I show Horn playing N. Mesquite. That wouldn't be a bad option either.
Re: High School Game Help ASAP!!!
TJT played Horn a week or two ago
Re: High School Game Help ASAP!!!
I was thinking Dallas and probably letting 20 years ago affect my input. Oh, and my uncle is Woodrow's band director ![]()
Re: High School Game Help ASAP!!!
Is he? He's got one tough job then. From what I've heard, there wasn't much left for him in the cupboard. Then again, music programs in DISD are pretty bad for the most part. I was actually in the Woodrow feeder system and would have ended up there but I ended up at Hillcrest. Worked out since my mom ended up working there halfway through my freshman year in '88. They've had a lot of good musicians come through there. Of course, it's different now since they are essentially relying on the middle schools develop their musicians. Good luck to him.
Re: High School Game Help ASAP!!!No question - Allen vs. Plano
Re: High School Game Help ASAP!!!He's not, but it seemed like the thing to say at the time since you shot down my game of the week.

Re: High School Game Help ASAP!!!Just back from the Lake Highlands Game...We were treated to halftime performance by the entire UNiv. of Oklahoma Band.It was pretty cool.
Re: High School Game Help ASAP!!!
Haha. Smart [deleted]. The decline of the programs has been there for some time. I was witness to it my last year in HS. We had such a solid program(for a DISD school) but when the last really good class of musicians had left, we had nothing in the cupboard. TJ has actually been the most consistent program in DISD for the last 20 years, which is remarkable considering the socio-economics of the school. However, the thing that sets them apart from the others is that they have had the same director for those last 20 years and have had solid instruction in the elementary and jr high levels. The thing about the talent drain is that not all the kids are going to Arts. A lot of them are actually ending up at Townview. In fact, quite a few kids from Arts are being shipped in from out of district. How do you think Norah Jones ended up at Arts when she was living in Grapevine? Anyway, enough of that stuff. After all, it is a football board. Maybe we should talk about geldings and mustangs?
Re: High School Game Help ASAP!!!Thomas Jefferson? They have been awful for years. There have been many 1 win and 0 win seasons. The only Football they have been good at for years is futbol. Its a heavily hispanic school. No way they have been close to Skyline, Carter, Kimball, Lincoln, or South Oak Cliff. The North Dallas schools would get beat by many 3A schools.
