Navy QB Dobbscan run the option...he made the right decision on nearly every play.
Re: Navy QB DobbsNavy plays well because they are focused and disciplined. That is to be expected as that is part of their education.
GO PONIES!!!
Re: Navy QB DobbsI was shocked to see he had over 100 yards-we played him pretty good. 3.4 yards per carry. His best play was long option pitch I think in the third quarter-I think it Navy scored. Pitched it almost on a diagonal to a RB at full speed. I knew that was trouble. Football really is a game of execution. If the timimg on the pitch is perfect there is a chance for a big play. Just like Run and Shoot-you hit your Inside Receiver on a slant in stride-it might go the distance. Throw it high, low or outside and you got a 7 yard catch. SMU's offense is executing at a 60-65% pace-not even close to what it can be when the QB and Receivers are on the same page

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Navy QB DobbsWhat really impressed me about Navy is that when their wheels looked like they we flying off all over the field with the two quick SMU scores, they regrouped really well and kept to the plan...
So often teams can't do that and once adversity strikes it just piles on and overwhelms them... One thing that did surprise me is that Navy seemed to have a number of discipline penalties (false starts, personal fouls, etc.) In the Navy games I have watched they tend to get hardly any penalties... It was a great game and SMU is definitely on the way up... Compare what is happening with them and what is happening up at North Texas and I feel a whole lot better about SMU...
