Or better yet get a merry-go-round and all the kids could enjoy it.

I couldn't hear the announcements well from near the Peruna grave at halftime, but it seemed to me they didn't even reference the horses at halftime.

yeah, a mighty turnout of about 4 strong at Peruna's grave. I agree with jt...the whole thing was much about nothing. Thanks for the horses, Maddy got to smile, took pictures with everyone, we're good.

Well, I counted 5 protesters, not sure what happened to the 80% folks.

I'd be glad to put up another Poll up if you want to keep trashing an 80 year tradition. We can talk about it all week. The Big Phony Ponyz are an even bigger FAIL after last nite. It becomes even more obvious that they don't represent the SMU spirit at all-they are stable ponies ridden by Cowboys who add nothing. Peruna is our only mascot and got a much bigger applause after his first run. They will quietly disappear because they are not wanted and are about as exciting as watching paint dry. And this episode will be cited for years as one of the most ridiculous ideas and public relations disasters ever foisted down our throats.

Exactly RGV! As I posted earlier Stallion, I love Peruna, and have for the last 40 years. At our Special Delivery camp, we had a sign that said we support Peruna. Did you have you have one at your 'Vard spot? Oh, that's right, that would cost money, so you don't have a 'Vard spot. I had a running Mustang (Peruna) on my red jacket, and one on my red cap, while you wore a plain NAVY colored windbreaker with nothing SMU on it. Mabey you should join us, and support Peruna.

Love your avator RGV Pony. Believe it or not, my old highschool football coach and a former SMU coach.

that's awesome.

and right there with Lifeson. While I was poking fun at the planned "protest," full disclosure: two of the four people I noticed at the Peruna monument were...my son and I. We headed over there before going to our usual halftime post on the hill, where we had a good view of Madeline, the other horses, the miltary dogs, etc. Why? Because, as Deion once said, we did...both.

Will someone tell what the hell the military had to do with the half time event. The opening was great very patriotic etc. but I can't figure out there relavence to the 2 horses. I thought it was kind of rude to have them out there during the horse presentation to tell the truth.

Are you kidding? That was all cheap talk. A "big showing" hardly. The new Mustangs introduction ceremony was a wonderful event and very well accepted by the SMU fans. I personally saw children that were very excited.

I am real surprised by your report given your posts last week.

I watched the halftime show and the new geldings sucked....If you talk to most SMU people who aren't on ponyfans and explain the truth of the situation, i.e. 2 ridden trained horse and peruna being pushed to the side, they all agree that it is bull [deleted]...I will be following this closely till the end of the season and if Peruna isn't front and center I have no problem talking to Orsini or Turner if they will take a 2000s alum meeting,I am pretty sure Kevin Knox and Dean Niemi can probably set up a meeting...I hope we don't get to that point. The horses are fine to have but Peruna is the star....

Not to mention this Varsity Shop a-hole has not made a productive post since 2003, when I started watching the board...so as an American I can appreciate your right to free-speech, but anything you have posted in the past week has been a pile of sh*t. Thanks for playing, now go home...

On another note, team is improving and I am going to be patient, but that was another disappointing loss...We are getting better and thats all I wanted to see this year....

No more surprising than the Mustang haters reports given their posts all last week, the only difference is their predictions for a half-time disaster did not happen. In other words they were wrong.
