It is too soon for SMU fans to develop expectations.

Has SamuraiStang returned from some kind of self-imposed exile?

It was necessary that I return to the killing fields for a time. I return until war again calls my name.

Meh, whatever.

Although I think it is funny that after taking the position earlier this season "no, Jaws, the time has come to have expectations" the General is now apparently espousing the position that it is okay to expect to lose. Frankly I'd rather have no expectations.

I never said that. This was inferred from the thread -- over inferred.

Well, please do explain what expectations you are advocating here. From my best recollection, expecting a "close loss" is still expecting a loss?

Let the mass misinterpretation begin:

I said it was a very good football game to watch. And yes, it was one of the best games I've ever watched at Ford (you know, in the history of athletics, there will be athletes from the winning and losing side who will say, "That was a great game.'' because of all that happened in it). I just thought it was a great game to watch. You had a lot of elements to it -- momentum turns, lead changes, big plays,

That's all I was pointing out. It's insulting to me to think that I'm happy that we lost.

I did not think you were happy we lost and I agree that was what your original post said, but it just seemed that you had gone further out than that. As an example, when somebody postulated that it was important to have a close loss this week you jumped to their defense when others pointed out that a close loss is still a loss. That confused me a bit because it was way beyond your original premise.

But, whatever. No expectations is still in effect. I am happy to report an increase in pleasant surprises this season.

Well, it could be that pretty potent cough syrup I'm taking for Bronchitis talking.

You should follow that up with a screwdriver to for increased treatment. Not only will the Vitamin C from the orange juice help, but we all know that alcohol has been used for centuries in the medical profession to kill germs.

"Losing is death". George Allen

"Losing is a state of mind. Imagine yourself in a deep deep pool". Psychologist in "the Natural".

On the other hand, "I love the smell of Napalm in the morning, it smells like...victory."
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
