For the Arkansas Mustangs

Postby Caballo » Tue Oct 20, 2009 12:39 pm

So I'm sitting at the game Saturday night when the man next to me, who is not the normal season ticket holder that sits there, starts talking about the Arkansas-Florida game. I said that I heard Arkansas gave them a good run for their money. He started telling me how Arkansas should have won, but for a couple of mistakes. Then, as you would expect, it seems the referees had it in for the Hogs and made about 10 really bad calls that should not have been made. That was the real reason that the Hogs lost.

For all the youngsters out there that never experienced the SWC, Arkansas has never lost a football game. The referees have just screwed them where they took the win away from them.

I know all the Arkansas Mustangs will appreciate this story. I am sorry you have to live with those fans, but it has to be a source of amusement on a regular basis.

Lou Holtz complained last Wednesday Nite that he lost a conference championship on a bad interference call one time, Wonder what he was talking about

I'm not sure about 10 really bad calls, but the Gators were helped out by the refs in that game.

Holtz has a love-fest for South Carolina, Minnesota, and Notre Dame in any of his dialogue...it is not surprising he would recall that moment, as do most Hog fans. Imagine if our fans had that same sense of paranoia...

However, they never complained when other teams played in Ark. and the 'homies' called most of the penalties in favor of the pigs.

Actually, the SEC has come out and said that the officials in that game made a mistake in calling a personal foul for a late hit in the 4th quarter. The penalty gave Florida a first and goal and they scored on the next play to tie the game with 7 minutes left.

Crabbing about the officiating that consistently gives someone's respective team the shaft is the routine during the college football season. Doesn't matter if it's SMU, Arkansas or whoever.

ESPN's Pat Forde with the following in his Dash Report:

The Least Surprising Development (16) of the half-year is:

A. Fans of (Fill In the Blank U.) screeching their brains out about being screwed by the refs.

B. Excessive Tim Tebow adulation.

C. Excessive Tim Tebow backlash.

Dash answer: All of the above.

ADD:

We should have a record of [add No. of games lost by less than 10 points] right now if not for the [No. of] turnovers in the [add games lost by less than 10 points] game[s].

Don't make any adjustments for the games you are lucky as hell to win

Tiresome.

This exactly why I cringed when people started talking about the pass interference call on Dennis. It was directly in front of me and Dennis mugged the guy. No problem, it happens. And I screamed as loud as anyone about uncatchable, but had Rock not been holding him up it would not have seemed so much so. I do not think you should let yourself be in a position where one bad call loses the game. It happens, but let us try to be above it if at all possible.

It is still known as just "The call" in Arkansas.

I saw the call on a replay. Terrible.

It happened right after that pissant urban meyer talked to the ref. He is a tool, believe it.

I predicted this before the game ended. Actually, it is a standing prediction that is right more often than the sun rising in the East.

That prediction is, if the Beloved Razorbacks lose, it is because of bad officiating.

Now the fact that the Beloved Razorback’s FG kicker missed not one but two easy FG has nothing to do with the Beloved Razorbacks losing.

I did talk to a former college football official that watched the game and he felt the officiating was fine. Sure a call may have been missed but he is sure that Florida could complain about some non calls as well. Also, I talked to a fan that was at the game and he felt the officiating was fine as well. And both are avid Beloved Razorback fans.

In 1976, Frank Broyles made a comment on his post game show about a holding call against his Beloved Razorbacks in their game against SMU. SMU won the game by the way. Broyles challenged anyone to show him the holding foul and if one could, he would buy them a steak dinner. We cut out the play from the game film that clearly showed the holding and sent it to Broyles. Needless to say, we are still waiting for our steak dinner.

He's afraid that you'd send Oscar to represent SMU.
