Re: Chances versus Houstondo you guys not remember last year when mitchell had the best game of his career and we almost won fault to a last minute TD bomb .... uh barely pulled it out last year. yes they are a way better team athleticly and coached but the defense is suspect to big plays in the passing game. thier offense is what we need to worry about if our defense can come up with a few turnovers its going to come down to who has the ball last
UH - 35 smu- 38 with game winning field goal in OT lets go mustangs!!!!
Re: Chances versus Houston
I think they are deeper at wide-out, but as far as starters are concerned, I give us the nod. Running back, part of it goes to how the back is used. If I recall, UH uses more of a west coast offense, pro set in which its backs get 20-30 carries a game. McNeal rarely creases 20, but still has a great ypc number. As I said, I think UH wins because its lines are better than ours and their QB is better than ours. Neither team is going to stop the other one consistently. The question is turnovers. UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Chances versus Houstonwhat you're disregarding at RB is that they kill most teams by passing to RBs out of the backfield. They have 652 yards receiving from their RBs Sims/Beall which is more than SMU or Houston has rushing from their top 2 RBs. If you include all RBS they have 757 yards receiving from RBs in 6 games-think about that-that's 126 yards receiving PER GAME to RBs. Beall was bad enough-have you seen Sims out of the backfield-he has 31 catches for 416 yards which is about 13 yards per catch-kid is really going to challenge our LBs.
TOTAL PRODUCTION FROM RBs: UH: 1493 SMU: 746 Hopefully our offense will develop that kind of production in the future-we seem to just now be trying to incorporate more passing to RBs I simply disagree at WR-they don't have any weak links at WRs-SMU does. Now if Darius Johnson steps up and plays like I think he can and Robinson is fully healthy-which visually he hasn't appeared to be- then it maybe arguable that SMU is getting there at WR. But UH is getting there too-check out how young all UH skill position players are-I believe I'm correct-they all return next year Keenum jr. Beall soph Sims Fr. Cleveland Jr. Carrier Soph Edwards Soph Dugat Fr. Justin Johnson Soph I guess Rodriquez is a starting this year and he's Senior. Also, UH has beaten 3 BCS schools. Re: Chances versus Houston
If SMU will play with fire and courage, protect the football, we stand a good shot at shocking the Cougs. SMU has competed in every game this year (save for a disappointing second half at TCU). I'm impressed with the defense. I think SMU competes hard and this is still a game into the 4th quarter.
