Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruiting

Postby papawasamustang » Thu Oct 22, 2009 11:52 am

Stallion originally posted about this young man a couple of months ago re: his interest in SMU.
Looks like we will find out Sunday if he's a Mustang. Smith would be a great addition to the team.

that new ESPN evaluation, after the Super 16, is pretty fantastic. Hopefully he's a Mustang and soon. This kid would make the '10 class

Not a great idea. You are a representative of the university.

Its cool-since it wasn't intentional just wanted to remind others. You can have contact with a recruit inadvertantly-may not even know he is a prospect-but once you do its the same as contacting a prospect directly by phone or in person.

This kid is going to play a national schedule this winter for Humble Christian life. Probably the best private in the state, unless God's Academy or Arlington Grace Prep step up. They'll be in Dallas for the Thanksgiving Hoopfest, which has a really solid draw. They are definitely making the trek to Vegas in December to play Findlay, as well as the Bishop Gorman Classic, which is loaded. Heard something about a Holiday tourney in Padre as well.

Anyway, should we get him, he'll be battle-tested coming in.

Here's a good website re: Htown hoops.
They have Smith rated as the #9 player in the city.
People I have talked to say his ranking is too low & that they feel he is a top 5 in the city.

This website has another story suggesting he'll commit to us. Also mention of how impressive our Elite Camp was a while back...

Word on the street is that SMU's Elite Camp (held last week in Houston) met and exceeded expectations. St Pius HS new head coach Henry Sims rolled out the red carpet for the SMU staff as they hosted 40 something of the best high school players from the Houston area. During the 4 hour session, the campers were put through drills, stations, and were allowed to "show their stuff" in front of Matt Doherty and his staff. Expect this thing to turn into an annual event.

Made the edit with the link...it's not as much of a story as just several updates on him throughout the blog

You'll have to use the "search" button and type in "Leslee" because its a rather unorganized Blog. Anyways, this should make your life easier.

Leslee Smith 6'8 pf (Christian Life 2010) will be taking an official visit to SMU this weekend. According to guardian, Johnathan Greenaway it appears Leslee could be on the verge of making a decision, "He's now down to two schools, Western Kentucky and SMU"

Leslee Smith 6'7 pf (Christian Life 2010) visited Western Kentucky this past weekend. All signs indicate that the fellas had a good time, and don't you college coaches start scratching your heads IF head coach Kenny McDonald lands one of these big mouth basses.

eslee Smith 6'7 (Christian Life) - The Virgin Island native brings the old school Moses Malone type swagger to the court. Hauled in several rebounds in the post and used his body to generate enough space to convert baskets. He played smart enough to know his limitations and benefitted a great deal to be on same winning team with Darious Gardner and Jamel Outler.

The Houston Swoosh Select administration has confirmed that Leslie Smith (Humble Christian Life 2010)has received an offer from USC. Many within the loop knew that McNeese had long been the school to beat for this Virgin Islands native. We'll see how it unfolds now that he's no longer a sleeper. Family friend Johnathon Greenaway who lives in Beaumont is proud of the direction that Leslie's recruitment is headed, "Other Schools that shown interest is Lamar, SMU, Tulane, and MU (Marquette). For a kid from the British Virgin Islands, I think says a lot about the kids down from that way. They just are as talented."

DFW is one of the few airports that have direct flights to the Virgin Islands-it might take him 3 days to get home from Western Kentucky. Hope new Coaches are closers this week with these two recruits.

Reads like it is between SMU and WKU.
