4 things need to be done;

1) let him know he can play some wing, not locked on the blocks
2) show the kid that smu is a small community, it's dallas that's large.
3) direct flights to bvi & proximity to both Humble and his guardian
4) Vastly better school academically. Sets him up far better unless he wants to live in Bowling Green forever.

I agree, If Doh signs both these guys he should be extended. I believe it took him too long to get things in place, but he has the foundation laid. Finally hired those assistants with local ties that relate to the players and got Crum built. Now we just need the recruits to produce the wins. Imagine these two blue chips plus McCoy...wow

Just me, but if he is ready for the announcement early Monday am, I do not feel good about this. If it were SMU, why not go ahead and announce while on campus. If it is a difficult decision, why announce that you will have your mind made up in about 36 hours. Seems to me that he did not want to say WKU while in Dallas. Which, if true, is a lot better than that football recruit that went on the Dallas news channel to announce his decision to go to another school over SMU.

I disagree, IMO I think the kid probably just wanted time to let it all sink in and not rush the decision. I do think if we [deleted] away he would have committed on the spot, but this doesn't necessarily mean we're out of the running

The kid has a guardian in Texas, and family in the BVI. Safe to say he needs to think it over, and discuss a decision. If he wasn't damn serious about SMU, he would have just verbaled to WKU last weekend or this past week. We got him on campus, gave it a go, now we wait.

WKU is a decent hoops school no doubt about it, but this is the type of recruit we need to close the deal on if this worm is gonna turn.

I would tap the brakes on Doh's extension until he proves he can win here.
Doh's recruiting, game coaching decisions & W-L record don't warrant an extension. Less than 3 weeks away & we get to see how this all shakes out.

From RCS sports

The grapevine tells me that Leslee Smith 6'8 pf (Christain Life 2010) should be making it official for Western Kentucky any day now. Smith visited SMU this past weekend.

You extend him no matter what, just for recruiting. Obviously, load it it w/incentives, and out clauses if certain criteria aren't met. You can't have a lame duck coach on paper and try to recruit. The perception of security is different then actual security. The man needs paper in place to recruit '11 & '12

I hope this is a non issue because we had a winning season. However, if this season is a repeat of the previous 2 than Doh needs to go. If the right coach like Reggie Theus or Russ Springmann is hired than I think recruiting just got better & so did the W-L record.

I know Reggie Theus quite well, and think he would recruit very well. He'd also leave us on probation, much like he would have at NMSU had he stayed. I'm a Springman fan as you know, grew up around him, but he has 'help' at Texas as well. These are different playing fields you're talking about.
