So did every other school in the SWC & across the country so, so what? (besides Rice) Weak argument
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Not as much money as we were paying. That is why we were able to get more of the high caliber athletes.

We seriously need to get over the education value of SMU. To some potential recruits, who come from educated families, the value of SMU's education is important. To the majority of athletes, who often come from uneducated families, ANY major university is a huge education oppertunity for them.

Yesterday's paying players is today's practice facility. Let's build a better practice facility than everyone else and get more of the high caliber athletes!

Weren't we No. 2 in '82 without one?

we also competed in the 1930's with a bunch of 5'8" 160lb white boys. things change (not my mascot though). we have to consider these amenities if we are going to get to the next level.

True and some of high cailber and mid range caliber athletes want to be coaches or teachers. So our engineering school and business school are not a major factor in their decisions because you don't need a degree from SMU to get a good job as a teacher or coach.

I agree wholeheartedly! That was the point I was actually trying to make. Yesterday's paying players is today's practice facility.

During my time Rice was known for having the most "depth" in player payments. Rumor was they went 3 deep. But of course that probably menat not enough spent on the top players in order to move up in the standings.

We need an indoor practice facility soon. It would be great to have one on campus, but if we can't, we need to build one as close to campus as possible. I liked the idea someone said of sharing it with High School teams when possible. Great for bad weather and recruiting !
