Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruitingModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruitingAwesome news!!!! Congrats Coach Doherty and the staff!!! Keep it going and let's close the deal on Quincy Aldridge and Papa Samba Ndao!!!
Re: Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruitingJim Hicks at RCS Sports had this to say:
Around 6pm, Johnathan Greenaway unleashed a text to various friends and family to announce that Leslee Smith 6'8 f (Christian Life 2010) had committed to Southern Methodist University. The Virgin Islands native had confirmed he was down to SMU and Western Kentucky. Then, he took a visit to the Texas based school a couple weeks ago, and obviously liked it enough to apply serious consideration towards playing for head coach Matt Doherty. Folks, I ain't gonna lie, this is a huge pick up for SMU. They haven't landed a recruit from Houston this good since ex Nimitz HS star, Derrick Roberts from the 2004 class. Smith is currently ranked #78 nationally by ESPN.com. “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
Re: Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruitingI am eating a big turd sandwhich on this one. I did not think we could get him. Doh and his staff deserve a lot of praise for signing a great player.
Re: Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruiting
Lets hope his career turns out a little better than Roberts, good guy but never lived up to his scoring rep.
Re: Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruitingCongratulations to all involved.

Re: Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruiting
Dude, u crack me up. How'd that bad boy taste? ![]() "We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors."
Re: Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruitingIt tastes as you would expect - like crap. I have been real harsh on SMU athletics recently because I expect SMU to excel in football and basketball with our top notch facilities, eduction opportunities, and proximity to great high school players. I also will admit when I 'get served' I got served on this one. Hopefully, this signing will create momentum towards other good signings.

way to own up, billy joe. Good day for all of us Mustangs “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
Re: Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruiting
I always enjoy your opinions & have the same type of expectations. "We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors."
Re: Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruitingCongrats to all involved...welcome aboard Leslee! We needed that....
Re: Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruitingI will own up also. I had said that since he did not commit on his visit that I felt he was settled on WKU and wanted to get home before announcing. Of course as it turns out he came to SMU with WKU commit already pretty well decided. Excellent job of selling a young man on the benfits of a great school in a great area. Lots of recruiting lessons here that hopefully will be shared with all our athletic departments.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruiting
Wow — classy. Welcome to SMU, Leslee!
Re: Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruitingJust a statement of fact, in the article they mentioned he was our best recruit from the Houston area since Roberts.
Re: Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruitingSweet.............
Re: Leslee Smith- Men's Basketball recruitingFriar Wolf, I am glad you had to eat that "cold plate" before I had to...congratulations Doh!
