If it's not Padron, then that confirms BLM has something on JJ.

It comes down to making the correct reads and game film. You still have to play within the offense.

Whoever does not produce right away, expect JJ to not hesitate to give the other the chance play. Or else to start in the second half. You want it, you earn it.

Competition! Its the American way!!!!

Both BLM and Padron are bad [deleted]!!!! Better for SMU!!!!! 8) 8) 8)

In his post game interview, JJ hedged a little when asked the quesition but basically said that the BLM injury takes several weeks to completely heal and that even if he can throw, he would not play him if it would risk additional injury to the shoulder.

Starters do not lose their positions because of injuries. BLM starts if he is sufficiently healed to the satisfaction of the coaching staff. Fans are always too quick to jump on the band wagon of the reserve QB if he comes into a game and has success. There should not be a QB controversy until next season. Yes, Padron did a very nice job managing the game, making his reads, staying mobile, limiting mistakes and displaying leadership.

Let's embrace this rare QB competition: How about whoever understands June's offense and shows continual improvement in practice? Both stare down their primary receivers. Both can generate turnovers through bad technique (overthrowing vs misplaced hand-offs). Kyle is more mobile and makes quicker decisions - edge, for now, Kyle. I hope this games pushes BOTH QBs to be much much better.

Yes but in the post-game interview on CW 33 JJ said that "if this were the National Football League, he (Bo) would have played today."

I did not notice Padron staring down receivers nearly as much as BLM does. In fact, I thought he did a nice job of checking his routes and staying aware of what was going on around him. I agree his hand-off technique needs to be worked on, but this is something that can hopefully be fixed very easily. At the end of the day, the one thing I can not get away from is that BLM has now started for a season and a half and many of the issues that have been discussed about him since his very first game continue to persist. Meanwhile, we saw a true freshman come in today with truly only one week of practice where he knew for certain that he was going to play and saw a much more polished player lead our team.

I know that no player should lose their spot due to an injury, but from statements that have come out over the last week, it was obvious that the coaching staff was already beginning to think beyond BLM as our quarterback. Padron proved today that we have a very talented QB on our team that can win big games even while learning how to play at the college level. In my book, its a great situation any time you can walk away with a win, and help your players to grow at the same time. This is not Pee Wee football, and in order to give our team its best shot next year, we should go ahead and give the remaining starts to Padron. I bet we still end up in a bowl this year and with the lessons we learn this season, we might even be able to set new goals next year that we can only dream of right now.
