Last year, I ripped Tom Mason

I thought his game plans were terrible and he didn't make good adjustments during the Navy game.

Boy, was I wrong. He's doing a good job with this defense.

Kuddo's to Mason for revising his defense to the athletes that he now has available...some JUCO transfers, a track star and some really good fast athletes that can play as freshmen make a big difference...

Navy has a way of adjusting to YOU, even Ohio State found that out.

I am amazed by what Mason has done with the linebackers.

- JaGared Davis developing into a star
- Chase Kennemer, no factor last year, is a star
- Yenga playing a totally different role than last year, yet it works

I remember that and I was beginning to think the same thing last year, but having watched him here at Fresno State I had to believe he could produce. It takes a big man to admit he's wrong. Good on you!

Everybody looks smarter when they have better athletes. The young LBs are really athletic (especially for guys that weren't highly recruited, they probably weren't because they're a little short); veterans doing a good job too

Coach Mason and his defensive staff have done a sensational job, and deserve every accolade we can throw their way.

About those linebackers ... I'm also a huge believer in this staff's ability to identify talent, regardless of how many other offers they have. These coaches have found some absolute gems in the making.
