Re: The Modelsaw this quote from another message board which reminded me of Stallion. The post was in response to their team's cornerback getting a fumble and being run down by the other team's TE. Pretty funny but alas, true: "That wasn't a negative comment, it's reality. The morons on here who expect that we "coach up this team" need to face the facts. Our defense is not only young(kiss of death #1), they're small, being outweighed up front by 50lbs/players (kiss of death #2), but they're also slow (kiss of death #3)."

Re: The Model
Wow. Considering NCAA standards aren't that tough, then the bar has really been lowered.
Re: The ModelNot that I was any big supporter of PB, but in his defense...
During his successful run with Bill Synder at K-State, well over half their rosters were filled with JC, CC, late-qualifiers. I seriously doubt he could have fielded a K-State type team here at SMU. And for all the criticism he received, no one could call him stupid. Mimicking the K-State model would have instantly solved one of his biggest problems...i.e. perpetually fielding a young team. So I don't buy that there are a level playing field during PB's stay here.
Re: The Model
Correcto-mundo, Pony. You hit that nail square on the head! To deny that you have to have your head examined. BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Re: The Modeland there would have never been a level playing field with Phil Bennett here....
C-ya @ Milos!
Re: The Model
I didn't say Bennett had a level playing field. In fact, I haven't said there is a level playing field today. I said the current "model" was put in place before he left. I also said that he got beat, specifically by Tulsa and Rice, with kids that he could have recruited and gotten into SMU. He would love to suggest that every kid at SMU is a future brain surgeon and that every kid at Tulsa is functionally illiterate, but we all know that neither is the case.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Tulsa will win regardless of who QBs SMU. The key for SMU of course is getting pressure and containment on Kinne. This kid can really throw the ball when Tulsa's horrendous Offensive Line gives him time-they rarely do. But it says something for him that even with the pressure/sacks he is in the NCAA Top 15 in Passing Efficiency-right behind Tim Tebow. Scroll way way down for Bo Levi Mitchell. wtf ![]()
Re: The ModelImagine what Todd Dodge could have done with this model!!!!
Re: The Model
or Gary Gibbs I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.
Re: The ModelJune said this week that we did not have the same level of talent of any of the teams we beat this year. That we are one solid recruiting class from getting there.
Question. How could that be possible, that we beat teams with more talent than our team?
Re: The ModelTime's up. The answer is coaching.
Re: The Model
The answer is everything and everything is the answer and furthermore, nothing is everything and nothing is nothing. Under the rules that were in place in 2004, (i) June Jones would not be winning; and (ii) June Jones would not be here. Don't believe me? He was quoted as much in a November 2004 Dallas Morning News article. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: The ModelRight. The answer is that BOTH talent and coaching are important. June Jones "coaching them up" is why we won the four games we won this year. I am tired of Jones not getting sufficient credit for the coaching part of the miracle he is pulling off here.
