RICE notes

Rice @ SMU

This can evolve (devolve?) into the game thread come Saturday. For now, a place to discuss the game leading up until then.

The Rice depth-chart for the game has been released, http://riceowls.cstv.com/auto_pdf/p_hoto...epth-chart. Items of note:

OFFENSE

-O-Line is back to season opening starting line-up. Janisch has returned to backing up at RT instead of at guard and Eric Ball reappears as the backup center.

-Pierre Beasley will start at F receiver over Taylor Dupree after seeing increased action in the weeks before the bye and playing solidly.

-Jeramy Goodson will start at TB over a healthy Tyler Smith. However, expect to see them both, as well as Charles Ross, rotate and even appear on the field simultaneously.

DEFENSE

-Chance Talbert still absent from the 2-deep at DT. Alex Lowry will again start there.

-Trey Briggs and Terrance Garmon will start at LB. Justin Hill is now backing up Garmon at SLB.

-Chris Jones (previously starter at SS) will start at FS over Xavier Webb, who made his first start there vs. UCF.

-Kevin Gaddis will start at Field Corner over past 16 games or so starter, Chris Jammer.

-Max Aniyam will start at SS and be backed up by David Falgout. Willie Garley nowhere to be found.

SPECIAL TEAMS

-Martens will return to being the starting punter. No changes at other kicking/holding spots.

-Kevin Gaddis has taken over punt return duties. Backed up by JT-S.

-Gaddis will also fill in for Shane Turner, who I suppose is still sick or injured, at kick returner, and be joined by Jeramy Goodson.

The only game notes we really need:

OFFENSE

-O-Line will get rolled. Janisch will get blown up and Eric Ball will be picking field turf out of his teeth for two weeks.

-Pierre Beasley will get twisted into a pretzel.

-Jeramy Goodson will wet himself at the mere sight of Peruna.

DEFENSE

-Alex Lowry will cry for his mom.

-Trey Briggs and Terrance Garmon will wish they had never woken up this weekend.

-Chris Jones will be an embarrassment.

-Kevin Gaddis will show all of Dallas what he ate for breakfast.

-Max Aniyam will fake an injury to escape the shame he will bring upon his school.

SPECIAL TEAMS

-Martens better bring a clean pair of underwear.

-Kevin Gaddis will run backwards in fear and then hand us the ball inexplicably.

GO MUSTANGS!!!!!!!!!!!

I played against Pierre Beasley in High School. He was the QB for a VERY talented Westfield Spring team. I'm suprised they put him at WR, that kid could play. It was like trying to tackle a ghost. Like Oregon's Dixon.

I remember Pierre Beasley was a Rivals 3* high school QB, and Rice has a 4* playing QB who was a transfer from Alabama. Rice's problem on offense has been mainly very poor OL play. There D has been worse.
