Should SMU offer JJ a

Postby hawaiisashimi_smu » Fri Nov 06, 2009 11:23 pm

contract extension if he takes SMU bowling this season? What if SMU finishes 8-4?

I think he gets $2 million the next two years and extend his contract two more years at $3 million.

Is he worth it? 8)

I am in, as long as he agrees to leave Peruna alone.

The way he tells it JJ will coach out his 5 year deal then retire.

If our former AD, Herman Fraiser had talked to JJ before the Sugar Bowl or anytime before that, JJ would still be in Hawaii and he would be making $2 million at Hawaii right now. Fraiser was bragging how it was a "done deal" but he never said anything to JJ. Fraiser showed no respect and took JJ for granted.

Be agressive and don't take no for an answer. Just because JJ says something about retiring after 5 years does not mean it is written in blood. JJ likes to leave at the height of his success. You have to lock him up early. Not at the end when everyone is flying high.

After two years, I wouldn't be surprised if JJ returns to Hawaii and coach the R&S with his friend McMackin heading the defense. Let the dream return to Hawaii! Maybe JJ can get his good buddy T Boone Pickins to donate some money to the UH cause!

Hey! I'm just dreaming! 8)

IF we get to a bowl game, the answer is yes--regardless of what JJ's future plans are. Recruits will not come if they know our coach won't be here by the time they graduate. I don't want this to be a one or two year turnaround and then back to the cellar. (But we do need to make sure the contract termination terms are solid in case he is actually out of here after 5 years.)

I think June would rather have a indoor practice facility.

Besides Hawaii, how many jobs has JJ left at the "height of success"?

This would be my guess too. This would benefit SMU most given the weather problems with practice and with recruiting.

Doesn't he still have 3 more years left? Seems like you can wait 1 more year before extending.

While we are better don't believe, as of today, we should talk of contract extensions. I believe he was out coached with the two OT loses this season. Washington State’s only win was against us.
Rice, Memphis, Tulane are in the bottom ten or mentioned along with WSU. Makes for an obscured win/lost record.
Don’t want to get rid of the guy, just has to be shown some more results.

hey not to burst your bubble guys but seriously.. have you guys forgotten how far you've come since JJs arrival??? You guys are soon gonna owe everything to this man... dont take him for granted, at least you guys aren't 2-6... besides JJ was not outcoached, he was out manned, if Padron was starting at navy the game would gone a lot differently... to me BLM is a liability out there, loook for Padron to be the future...
