Geez...I've always wanted to have the team known as the SMU Cowboys...(sarcasm off). Maybe they think some of the Dallas Cowboy fans will get confused and wind up at Ford stadium.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Here's the problem...they just look like a couple of horses with riders on them.

You are a sycophant. They were going to eliminate Peruna. If we had not stood up and flooded their offices and threatened to withhold money, he would have been gone. Peruna is still being cheapend by those nags presence on the field.

The students were not involved in the decision....it was Orsini dictating to the rest of the university. What ever happened to institutional control? Isn't that what got us in trouble in the first place?

From the Student Senate's resolution (which passed - 32 in favor to 3 dissenting):

CONCERNED that any additional symbolic representation of our university will be destructive to a legacy that SMU is trying to achieve through it’s hard work with the “Unbridled” campaign, and particularly

CONSIDERING that mustangs at our events would be bridled which contradicts the spirit of our current capital campaign which aligns very well with Peruna, who is unbridled, and...

RESOLVED...That the student body supports Peruna as SMU’s only mascot... That the student body wishes Peruna to be the only figure symbolically representing SMU at university athletic events, regardless of whether any additional figures are considered official or unofficial mascots or figures.

It's funny to see they used a screen shot of the shirt I made.

Maybe they should apologize to the fans and alums who fought to keep Peruna because they:

A. Weren't immediately up front with us when this whole thing started about Peruna's fate.
B. Had to own up to the fact that they approached the Botox Queen about this.
C. Told us that these horses were making their ONLY appearance this year for the Navy game and then we find on 11/6 that they'll be here for the final three games. Boy, there's great consistency for you. Are they just making this up as they go along here.
D. Having a dipstick like you counter with the daily talking points. If you're the best spin doctor they got, it really shows how weak they are in winning the battle for public opinion. You just enjoy the basketball season when a good number of people just walk by your store in Moody. You made your bed with Orsini. Now you lay in it.

For the record we were not proven wrong because Orsini and Dr. Turner could never take responsibility in the decisions concerning this. Just kinda tucked their heads and pushed it off to the students and team to resolve. That was mighty cowardly of them.

GSP - the students did not make the decision; that is total spin to make itseem that some great compromise has been worked out. This was done over a series of days with folks high up in the administration.

Regardless, our administration and mouth pieces for it like Varsity Slop DO NOT value tradition.

A. What about peruna's role has changed? As I understand it, nothing, but I might have missed something. If nothing changed, then how were they not upfront about peruna's fate?
B. That was pretty open from early on. Stallion had that post title "Straight from the horses mouth" and a lot of people acted like it was a big revelation, but it was quickly pointed out that that news had been published on here 2 weeks earlier. Sort of took the air out of that balloon.
C. When did they say publicly that the horses would not appear again this year? I only read that their role was yet to be determined.
D. I do not know what this means; I suspect that is evidence of a my general state of PANIC!!!

If that was in response to my post it was a complete a non sequitur.

I will take that to mean you had no valid response to the questions or points I raised in my post. To boil it down, your points A and C are unsupported by any information I have seen publicly. I would love to see the public information you have seen that supports those points if you or anyone else has it. You have had a chance to support them and declined, so I beginning to think you can't support them.

Point B is true, in the sense that they have been straight forward about approaching Pickens about the horses, but none of the information I have seen supports your contention that anyone was forced to "own up to" this. Also, I would point out that it does not seem to be very classy or mature to call her the "Botox Queen", but I suppose we all have our own personal sense of decorum.
