Re: 15,475Not that it helps our situation any but the TCU Froggies - ranked in the top 5 - can't even sell out Amon Carter!
Re: 15,475
You know, Amon Carter does seat about 12,000 more than Ford. And we are averaging a home attendance that exceeds Ford Stadium's total capacity by about 3,000 every single week. Plus, next Saturday vs. Utah should be a sellout. Just thought I'd add a little perspective to a pretty blindered comment. ![]() These Frogs have horns!
Re: 15,475So what was your reason for adding all those extra seats if you're not putting butts in them? Bottom line: TCU has a team ranked #4 in THE NATION and you're not selling out Amon Carter! from your own fan board: http://www.killerfrogs.com/msgboard/ind ... pic=102686 NativeFrog puts it all into perspective: The simple explanation is we have a small enrollment, outside of the students there is a limited number of people interested in TCU sports, and the vast majority of the opponents who come to Amon Carter don't bring many fans. We wouldn't sell out Amon Carter if the Coton Bowl was being played in the stadium and TCU was one of the teams. We need to quit talking about te lack of attendance. It ain't gonna change, so let's forget about it.

Re: 15,475
with all due respect...the Sunday morning after SMU goes 8-0 or 9-0 or whatever yall are right now, there is no way in this world or any other I'll be surfing/trolling the frog board. Glad you stopped by, but seriously..what are you doing slumming over here??
Re: 15,475Everything SUX!
Re: 15,475looked like a lot more than that...that suprises me
Re: 15,475It is going to be very difficult to solve the attendance problem. After all, we've graduated more than 20 years of classes of students that are generally apathetic to sports, otherwise the vast majority would have gone to a school with winning football and basketball teams! Hopefully our newfound success will help us lure passionate sports fans in order to help us fill the stands going forward!
Re: 15,475They're going to have to come up with a media blitz and operation sellout kind of thing to drive sales and attendance. Two home games to play, best league start since 1986, in the cusa west race, closing in on bowl eligibility. Plenty of ammo to make it happen. Now is not the time to go soft here.
Re: 15,475
i agree. was talking to my friend from tcu and he was telling me how they still have huge attendance problems and how there is still a giant percentage of tcu students/alumni who are generally apathetic towards the team ... even as amazing as they've been over the last few years. i hope our program gets turned around, but i will be suprised if our attendance ever drastically improves. yes part of it is that we have sucked for so long, but the other part is the kind of students that are attending smu/tcu. lots of people who aren't overly into sports and don't see it as "cool" to be a huge fan of your team
Re: 15,475discouraging, but not unexpected...The SMU side between the goal lines was pretty full, but the visitor's side and the endzone are just sparsely populated and, of course, Rice brought next to no one.
SMU needs to drastically lower ticket prices and have a concerted effort each game to try and sell as many tickets as possible. Knock the price of tickets down to 5 bucks and work with corporate sponsers to get butts in the seats. We have to follow the rule of Supply and Demand, slash ticket prices and make some money on concessions, charging 14 and 24 dollars for tickets that no one buys does no one any good. Re: 15,475need to charge less for concessions too. The young kids and people who can be lured to an smu game that don't care about in the first place need to be able to buy nachos and a soda for less than 20 bucks. they can go to high school games and pay much less. Seriously, the nachos, candy and the soda needs be flowing if you want if you want anyone outside of alums to be there.
