Re: We played the worst game we've played all seasonLately we've been shuffling in alot of newcomers on our offensive line, because of injuries. Their over anxious to prove themselves and it shows.

I think you mean because of injuries. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: We played the worst game we've played all seasonThe blown coverage for Rice's 2nd TD wasn't just the defense not paying attention. I'm not sure, but I think that the coaches complained that Rice's receiver stepped out of bounds, and that's why McCann came off of him. If that was the case, then their receiver could not catch anything per the rules of the game, right? And if that's true, then I call it another, perhaps the most significant, blown call of the game.
Of course, it probably didn't help SMU's cause that Jones & Co. kept bending the referrees' ears. ![]() "Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992
Re: We played the worst game we've played all seasonAs far as our defense was concerned, Rice did very well on offense in their two weeks to prepare. Every time we threw a blitz at them, they had a screen set up right at the blitz. That forced us to back off and not blitz. Then, they were able to find a hole in the zone in the middle of the field in front of the safties. That was a display of excellent coaching, and it caused us to not run around agressive like we did last week.
Offensively, our struggles lie at the hands of the offensive line. Padron was moving to second options, but didn't have the time to come back down to the third. On the TD drives, everyone ran quick routes, made for quick decisions and he was able to get the ball out on time. Accuracy was fantastic, though. We will play better on both sides of the ball next week. Especially on offense, where we will get a few line guys back.
Re: We played the worst game we've played all seasongood news is we had the trap game, got trapped, and still won. I dont think it will happen again.

Re: We played the worst game we've played all seasonBack to the original posting.
The worst game we played this year was against Houston. The overall play in that game was bad. The team was least prepared for that game than any other. Injuries impacted us against against Houston, but, we had turnovers, penalaties and an attitude of defeat during the game. I say Houston was our worse performance thus far this year.
Re: We played the worst game we've played all seasonThe bad news- we played very poorly.
The good news-we found a way to win ugly.
Re: We played the worst game we've played all season
I think that is true as well. They seemed ill prepared then and it was such a sloppy game for us against Houston and even though SMU didn't play that well yesterday and seemed a little un-inspired against Rice, you still have to give it to Rice for good gametime coaching ( QB checking off at 15 seconds at the play clock under the center and then looking over to the coaches and then changing the play based upon what D they were seeing)and their QB was really good with his throws (27-40) and threw where either his guys caught the passes or they were long and limited chances for a INT. That tall slot receiver was good and went high for his catches and the passes were pretty much on the money. Their OL was impressive with their pass blocking as our guys went at them hard.
