I would suggest leaving the nicknames to an extreme minimum. I can live with "The Terminator" since he's such an incredible phenomenon right now. Just let the game come to you. Get excited when the play requires it. Each game has been an improvement so build on what you've been doing. Everyone has their opinions and you can't please them all so develop your own style and roll with it, especially for basektball.

Please...no more "Monsters of the Hilltop," though. No good.

Terminator is fine...and enuf! I agree that too many "nicks" and it all is diminished. Leave it at that one.

I agree in regard to the announcing of other scores. Saturday the same ones kept going up (But that was a better presentation than in the past).

Tell the girl to hold he mic about 6-9" from her face.

Overall, the presentation was much better.
Long live Inez Perez!

Well, the sideline girl is just smokin' hot so I really don't care.

I suspect the problem with the speakers being balanced etc. is that the acoustics are totally different for a full stadium vs a half full stadium and the fact that they only put speakers on the west side rather than on both sides of the field. Adding speakers to the east side and turning the volume down a bit would probably make a big difference.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

With regard to Margus Hunt, I know you're going with the Terminator angle, but another poster in another thread mentioned going with the "Wolf" theme, given that his name litterally translates to Wolf. With that in mind we were tossing around the idea of getting the stadium howling when the other team kicks.

Maybe toss in the Wolf theme from "Peter and the Wolf"... how many french horns do we have in the band? ;)

One thing that seems a little weird is the timing of the new "Anthem". I'm kind of on the fence about the Anthem in general, but since we're playing it, we should pick more appropriate times. It seems like it's played at very odd or random moments -- like after an opponent's touchdown, before our second play of a drive, for 10 seconds during a penalty review, etc. To me it would work well at appropriate times when you can play the whole thing... like after an SMU TD (before we kickoff or right after), during an opponent's timeout and/or when we have a big lead (I know we don't get to use that one much). In general, play it during gaps in play when things are going our way. It should help to demoralize the other team and boost our momentum, but it doesn't work when there's no emotion on our side or when we just play 5 or 10 seconds of it.

Nice job so far. You've been a big improvement and I like your enthusiasm.

sat at midfield on the east side and the echo/delay/whateever it is.. is terrible. we had trouble following what was being said. need to speak slowly if that echo can't be fixed

1) If you can't get the mics for the band to give the whole band noise, and you can't get it to work without a delay, don't mic the band.

2) "Monsters of the Hilltop" sounds like an ill-attended SMU-sponsored Halloween party in the Hughes-Trigg ballroom; other than that, great job Saturday

3) Announce out of town scores.

David thank you for being open to input. Please don't make this a one time deal and check back for input throughout every season. I would second the need to announce other big game scores from around the country and also some from our conference games.

David, You are a gift and will do nothing but get better at your job.
You have a true desire to improve and just watch out for some on this board... their childhoods are the reason they are in therapy.
