Not only would they be more visible from that perch, you could set up an information booth/table about the Mustang rescue foundation. Allow people to see, and possibly pet, those animals up close. Use it to raise funds for the rescue foundation - as their gift was purportedly intended.

Having them stand in a corner of the field for the entire game does no one any good, inspirationally or otherwise. If we must have them, at least use them for some good - to raise money and interest for the Mustang rescue.

Great idea Longtime! This was recommended at the Student Senate meeting about the "mustangs." But apparently players came in and said that they somehow get power from the horses being on the field, and they have to be there...and apparently they even suggested praying around the bowed horses at the center of the field...

I'm sure these mustangs...er...geldings are eternally grateful that someone took them out of the wild and taught them how to kneel.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Then let's get new players.

These players and these coaches have us with a winning record and the best chance to go to a bowl game in more than two decades. I'll stay with who we've got, thank you.

If they derive the necessary inspiration to win football games from two horses that can't go to away games, we're going to have some major problems if we want to build a consistent winner.

Jesus, get over it. Whining on a messageboard isn't going to change a thing. Go talk to Steve-O. In the meantime, let's not suggest that the team wins or loses because of the Mustangs, since we won AT UAB and AT Tulsa. The Mustangs do not dictate the success or lack of success of the team. For whatever reason, the administration wants them. Don't support the mascot Mustangs, if you don't want to, but don't suggest that we won't be able to win on the road because they can't go. We didn't win at home because of them, and we didn't lose on the road because of them. They're mascots. That's it. Peruna isn't going anywhere, and these two have been kept out of the dog food factories. This just in: got a game Saturday against UTEP. If we win, and regardless of the presence of the new Mustang mascots, we're eligible for a bowl. It's a little more important, don't you think?

First of all I don't appreciate you cussing with the Lord's name. Second, you get over it. Those of us posting about this subject have a deep and abiding passion for SMU. Some of us have gone to almost every home game over the last 20 years. That's a whole lot of bad football. So I do believe that gives us the right to gripe about things. We weil be there rooting for Mustangs, so you chill out Bubba!

Actually there have been multiple instances where 'whining' on this message board accomplishes things and gets the attention of those in charge. This is an outstanding outlet for the few passionate fans left for this program, and they, believe it or not, pay attention to it. That is a fact.

What is remarkable to me is that we saw the big horseys on gameday at Homecoming, and will continue to see them at future home games, even though 70% of the students (Daily Campus poll), Alumni (Ponyfans poll), and Student Senate (762,587 to 2 vote) emphatically stated "Thanks, but Peruna is our only mascot, and we do not want to see these big horseys on gameday." In effect, by their very existence, the big horseys are being stuffed down our necks, whether the entire university voted to reject them or not.

A) I didn't cuss. If the mere mention of the name offends, I apologize.
B) Nobody questioned your passion for SMU. Not that it matters, but I also have been to every home game in that time, and I have missed just a handful of roadies. Doesn't change a thing.
C) OK, if it helps you sleep at night, gripe away.
D) It's Otto, not Bubba.

Apparently the "Peruna is my Mascot" theme did not work as well as we hoped. Time to pull out all the stops...somebody get to work printing the "My Mascot Has Balls" t-shirts!
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.
