Not sure, seems like there were others. Either way, this bowl situation at least tells us who has legit sources and who doesn't.

I agree. And the parents? If we win Saturday, we're going to Hawaii? What if UCF or Tulane upsets Houston? What then? (recall Tulane beat UTEP who beat Houston.) Are we going to skip the Liberty Bowl? Sounds bad. Of course, any bowl game would be great. But the way we've bore-sighted this Hawaii thing comes off odd. And why publicly snub the Armed Forces Bowl and others? Conference has a say in who goes to what bowl too. As for "sources," it hasn't been a secret. Orsini publicly said back in August that Hawaii was were were planning to be on Christmas Eve.

Sounds bad.
From the article: and don't somehow win the Conference USA championship, Jones is planning on the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl on Dec. 24.

I'm going by the quote, "If we win [Saturday] we're going to Hawaii." Is that what he said or not? He was asked his preference and apparently didn't say, "My preference, obviously, would be Hawaii, but we'll see. Lots of football to be played."

And me, and like 5 other people......
Yeah, you did. Who else? I know that I had to deal with several threads where people questioned the validity of my sources.
Me.

Is it possible Jones thinks SMU fans, like Peruna, are part of the losing culture and he'd be fine with new ones? ....... Think about it.

I still think the best case scenario would be for us to win CUSA and go to the Liberty Bowl versus an SEC team. However, I am thankful for any bowl. I will not be able to go to Hawaii and I think that sucks for those of us who have supported this program when they were giving us every reason not to, but I will be watching on TV. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEvGKUXW0iI

Yeah. What amazed me was after everyone was saying that the team would be taking the field (i.e. running out of the tunnel) to the "My City" song and I said that that was incorrect and the team would be taking the field to Peruna as usual (per my source), people questioned my source. Then, the first game came and the team took the field to "Peruna." Instead of crediting my source, they preferred to question it again when I said that my sources are aware of a conversation promising a Hawaii Bowl invitation and acceptance for a bowl-eligible SMU team.

Maybe I am in the minority, but I consider WINNING to be the only reward I need as a fan. If playing in Hawaii helps recruiting, helps big time with publicity (Jones returns to Hawaii.... would be best if vs. Hawaii but I guess that isn't happening) rewards the players, I'm OK with it because those things bring more wins for me to enjoy in future years.

The Mustang Band has been to EVERY BOWL game. With the AD dept in debt up to its ears, it is very unlikely that the Band would be sent to Hawaii. I hope the AD dept makes a liar of me on this one. The M Band has suffered just as much as the football team (look at our numbers) and they deserve a trip as well.

That's when the circle of champions should step up and sponsor the band trip.

Tickets from DFW to Hawaii leaving the 21st and coming back the 25th are $794..eek. Speaking with one of the asst b-ball coaches, he said that if the football team went to Hawaii, the Athletic Dept. would work on some airline/hotel deals to accommodate SMU fans.
