if you heard June on postgame-I think he is still planning on Hawaii. But that's a Million Dollar difference.

Could we work in two(bowls)? With our record overf the last two decades and what the NCAA owes us, maybe they will let us...As Ernie Banks once said, "Let's play two!"

LOL,

What an idiot, you look at those payout differences,,,Orsini and Turner better put a muzzle on June, hmmm

Liberty Bowl 1.7 million
Hawaii 398k

Come one Pony Fans, quit being sheep sucking the teat of June Jones ( a stallion quote)..the Hawaii Bowl is unacceptable if we win it all.

Remember the Sun Bowl and Freddie Nichols comment? When we were snubbed for the Sugar Bowl and got the Sun Bowl, Nichols called El Paso "the pits." We got booed out of town. In fact they put manure on the practice field where the M Band practiced.

We don't want to get the Liberty Bowl, Memphisites mad at us.

That is idiotic. This program needs the $$. Not to mention the traveling costs for everyone, parents, etc.

Let's cross the road when we get there though.

Rumor has it that JJ's contract says that the first bowl SMU goes to under his regime will be a bowl game in Hawaii. Don't know if CUSA championship overrides that.

Somehow Stallion, after this game I think donations to the school are about to go up. I heard some wealthy people just wanted to see if the Coach and team were for real before they started giving the cash. But winning usually does that.

I would take the money-but you guys have it wrong-Hawaii Bowl bumped up the payment to $700,000 not 398,000. It happened in late summer.

Plus's for Liberty - More money, more prestige, more of our fans can go, better bowl in general
Plus's for hawaii - JJ gets to play returning conqueror

not sure that is worth a million bucks

If someone can explain to me how it would be better for us (SMU as a program, not just June Jones) to go to Hawaii vs. Memphis, then maybe I'd support Jones on that quote. I don't see how that big of a pay cut could possibly help SMU. I don't see how this bowl (Hawaii) would somehow benefit SMU more than Memphis other than through Coach Jones' ties to Hawaii. As Bagice said, less money, less attendance, worse day, lesser opponent.

All I'd really like to hear is why Jones thinks it would be of greater benefit for SMU to go to Hawaii.
Here's to those that wish us well and all the rest can go to hell!!!

plus we could always add Hawaii as a 13th game next year-then everyone in Hawaii would be happy. Big TV game too.

Sounds like a great question for someone to ask on Monday. I'd like to know the answer too. I was expecting a more pc answer postgame, but he is holding ground.

I am not advocating this, but possible rationales:

Hawaii bowl is the only game on that day. Liberty Bowl is on the same day as Cotton and International (although at different times of the day). So maybe exposure is one.

Better opportunity to recruit that area (Samoa, Hawaii)

Easier coverage of "Jones' return to Hawaii"

I'm not sure any of those are worth the lack of money or lack of access to a bowl to Dallas-area Ponyfans.

I think Jones' allegiance is to his players with whom he set a goal of going to Hawaii, as opposed to the Dallas-area Ponyfans that I'm sure he remembers staying away in droves when he brought his Hawaii teams to Ford
