All this is great talk about being Conference Champs and the higher paying Liberty Bowl, but before this becomes an issue remember SMU still will have to WIN three more games. Including a potential Conference Championship game which I think in that case would be played at FORD Stadium. After the game with Rice, I don't think we should take anyone for granted........ Hawaii Bowl is 400k although Stallion says it is 700k. Liberty Bowl is 1.7

If you are looking for *facts*, the Hawaii Bowl pays $750k. This is actually not hard to verify, but it appears that the articles being linked to are horribly mistaken (especially the one that said $398k).

I do appreciate someone linking to my old blog, though. A more representative TV analysis would be the last time a *JJ*-coached team playing in the Hawaii Bowl (2006).

Isnt the money split up within the conferance anyways? Correct me if I am wrong. So does it matter if we win the conferance and still go to Hawaii? Will we not still get the same amount? Other than the fact most people can not afford to get there.

In the pantheon of 'what ifs', one might consider a possible Arkansas-SMU game in the Liberty Bowl

Arkansas is also 6-4. Arkansas draws well and has respectable national TV audience. And Arkansas, for some strange reason, considers SMU a rival.

One would think that potential matchup would be very attractive to the Liberty Bowl and a National audience.

Now, so much for pure speculation. The business at hand is BEAT MARSHALL.

not to mention, haven't we only had ONE game (tulsa) where it hasn't come down to the last drive/play? hey, i'm not complaining about how we are winning. I'm just saying, 3 wins isn't a guarantee just yet. let's win this big marshall game on the road this week and we'll be sittin pretty

JJ would definitely help fill the stadium, but many of you grossly overstate how many people would watch on TV. There's a reason CBS-CS hasn't picked up our last 2 games with us leading the conference. We will not be a big draw on TV, period. Maybe some fans with a sense of history would take a look, but we will not be a ratings bonanza anywhere.

Do you really believe the players would settle for going to Hawaii rather than winning the CUSA championship and going to a bigger bowl game? I can't say, but they seem to be hungry for winning now, as evidenced by the Thompson's sack at the end of the game. I don't see them letting up.
