White Helmet wrote:Well going back to the original "article". It is terrible reporting as usual. The money spot is split so there goes the money argument and it has already been said that an SWC team voted to go to the Aloha Bowl over the Cotton Bol (SMU) so yeah I could see it happening. Try a fact check every now and then Mr Pony.

Didn't say SMU would get the $1.7 mil, now did I, Mr. Helmet?

The difference in payouts was mentioned to note the difference in prestige between the bowls.

It's obvious Jones has the backing of big SMU donors and feels free to say and do whatever he wants.

And it's becoming obvious that Orisini and Turner are basically Jones' caddies.
Orsini on even days, Turner on odd.

How 'bout I say this?
SMU was a co-champ when they went to the Aloha Bowl in '84.
No way they get out of the Cotton Bowl if they'd won the SWC outright.

Yet they still voted to leave which is exactly what you say you never heard of, chief.

Both couldn't have played in the Cotton Bowl, could they?
Never heard of a singular conference champ skipping their league's top bowl. And you haven't either, uh, Kemosabe. 8)

I thought you were going to go with your family? That's like at least three more right?

I'm really bad with numbers, but I'll say

Memphis: >5k
Hawaii: <1k

See y'all at the Marshall game.

Details?

Read carefully. I said I'd never heard of it.

Say, chew on this, bumped from another thread:
Hawaii "side" needs SMU to lose a game.
Liberty "side" needs SMU to win out.

(didn't say Hawaii "side" wants a loss.....)
Jones has put the team in an odd situation with his public lobbying to avoid the Liberty Bowl.
And who is SMU to dump on the Liberty Bowl after 25 years without one?
Doesn't help SMU long-term.

I think we should go to the Liberty Bowl but I think most of the arguments are flawed.

OSU Faculty council decided to emphasize academics over athletics and then declined Rose Bowl invite...I wonder if Ken Pye was around then.
