I think you are probably right. Rice went 10-3 last year and they ended the season with some votes, but were still down in the "Others receiving votes" at 35th place in the AP poll. A win in the Liberty Bowl/conference championship would get more attention/respect though.

Yeah. Realistically it would be a long shot even then. Too many 4 loss teams like OU that would get precedence anyway, if any 4 loss teams even get ranked. But no way it would happen with a win over Fresno.

Furthering your point, looking at last year's final poll for guidance, I do not see us being ranked above the types of teams that ended up being ranked with 4 losses last year.

If we end up in Hawaii against the likes of Boise (for a non-BCS championship game) and beat them, we could end up in the top 25 since we would have beaten a top 10 team.
