Looks like you guys arranged this so you would still be available if SMU happened to go to another bowl. Another bowl + Hawaii. Good planning. Unfortunately this will not work for me. Have the hotel but will have to wait for the invitation before booking the air.

I cant go, Mrs. EastStang put her foot down on this as did Momma EastStang. But having spent some time in Honolulu several recommendations. (1) Have a drink at the bar at the Royal Hawaiian. Yes, its pricey, but the thong bikinis frollicking inches away, somehow makes you forget the price. (2) If you can take a few hours climb up to the Diamondhead lookout tower, its a great view of the Island. Its a slippery climb so wear hiking shoes. (3) If its open, go snorkeling at Hanoma Bay. They have gear for rent there. It is simply amazing. (4) Go to Pearl Harbor. It is a very moving experience. When I went there, they had the Battleship Missouri docked at Pearl. If so, this tends to cool the snickers from the Japanese tourists, since the guide will usually mention that the Emperor of Japan surrendered to McArthur on the deck of the Missouri. But still well worth it to go. I agree about a layover in LA. It not only helps the price, but allows your body clock to readjust a little bit. There is a jetlag issue when you fly home.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

That's his total cost including the hotel. If you don't book the hotel and air together, you're going to pay up to 50% more.

At the risk of being hated on by everyone else on the board, I booked a stay in Hawaii during Christmas week 6 months ago via Priceline once I heard SMU would be playing in the basketball tournament. $200 from LAX.
