A First for Me Today

Postby DiamondM75 » Sat Nov 28, 2009 9:36 pm

The line judge on the home side was a female. I have never seen a female football official. And, she did good job.

In fact, the entire officiating crew did a good job today. They let the guys play.
Just send 'da money.

You know what ?....You are right they didn't get in the way and could have made a stink with the late hit on Padron on the SMU side but they didn't. My hats off to them.........

First game in a LONG time (not just SMU games) that I can recall with no pass interference calls. There were many times when crews from previous games would have had the flags flying, but I liked the fact that they let them play - was nice from a continuity standpoint.

Your wrong on this one. The female linesperson did nothing. It took the SMU coach horse collaring Tulane's #6 (who had been taking cheap shots all game) to stop that fight. The penalty happened right in front of her and she choked and didn't throw the flag. It took the referee another 10 to 15 yards behind her to throw the flag.

Also when we stopped Tulane three times at the goal line, she never made the call. She waited on the other linesman to make the call and then her hands would go up.

Those fight/bench situations are always tough to decifer, whoever you are, and I saw several pass interference situations that could have been called both ways, and they let them play. I would rather see that then the nitpicking that amplifies the refs instead of the football players. Call it like an AAU B Ball game....let them play...

This is the only side I really saw of her all day. Quite a caboose!

Not sure who that person is on the sideline that got lost on their way to the Florida vs Florida State game!

 Well, if she can't break up a fight on the sideline, I'm not too worried.

They did call offensive pass interference one time on Tulane.
