Thank You Pony Fans For Your Input & Support

Postby TheMustangsVoice » Sun Nov 29, 2009 12:59 am

I just had to post one last time for Football and tell each of you how very much our team has appreciated your support, your input and your ideas on making the SMU Football experience be something that doesn't have to be stuffy, but can be fun and exciting. A lot of your suggestions and ideas worked and made for a better game experience for all. Of course, some of my ideas worked, but there were a few stinkers. But through it all, everyone one has been a class act. I have had the privilege of meeting some of you at the Mustang Club luncheons and at the basketball games and, again, thank you for your kind and generous words as I scrambled to find the right combination of things that would work.

I intend, just as I did this year, to start another post as we begin our preparations for the 2010 Football season and I know that I will always be able to count on all of you for your creativity when it comes to making the SMU Football experience something fun again. Not everything, as I told you from the very beginning, will make the cut from the bosses.... but you will always be able to count that your voice will always be heard through me at an appropriate time.

Again, thank you for your support of our broadcast team this season.

All my best to each of you.

David

P.S. You guys did some great "Stampede Hoofing".

David, I can honestly say that I felt you improved all season long. Thanks for having thick skin, which was much needed given some of the comments I read. I also admire you for asking for the input from a very direct, and sometimes just plain blunt group of fans. Keep up the work on improving your craft. I am glad to know that the guy behind the mic loves our school and our team.

By the way, nice job on giving Emmanuel Sanders his props on breaking the record tonight. Hopefully you'll get the chance to announce the breaking of several various school and even conference records in the near future.

BTW, who shut you up about Peruna? You didn't say the "P" word all day.

I liked the "stampede hoofing" with people banging on the stands. I would like to see more cheers accross the stadium like SMU-Mustangs... maybe next year. Thanks for the good work - definately getting better each and every game.

I probably shouldn't have but I liked you saying "the other guys" instead of referring to them by name.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Thanks guys....

Some Answers

The Sack Attack came as a suggestion from a Mustang Club luncheon. It's gone.

Peruna, Liberty & Justice will be something integrated in 2010.

The Other Guys was, again, a suggestion from a member. It's definitely gone.

I received a lot of positive feedback on the Stampede thing and everyone seemed to enjoy and get the message on "Let me hear your hoofs". I can tell you that the noise level definitely made a difference on two of Tulane's plays as they tried to audible and couldn't hear. Great Job!

My one wish for next season, and this is strictly personal for me, is that our games start to fill the stands again. If it makes it more exciting for me and those of us in the broadcast booth, imagine how wonderful, exciting and supportive it makes the boys feel on the field.

One thing I want to do for next season, with permission from the bosses.... is to maybe on our six home games.... have something where each game some of you can join me in the broadcast booth and experience what I do. I think it would be an eye opening experience and lots of fun for those that could do it. As I said, I have tons of ideas, lots of enthusiasm and nothing but great expectations and intentions.... but I have some great bosses and everything I do has to be passed through them on things like this.

If you are at Basketball..... give me a shout if we haven't met yet or even if we have.

I also liked this. But again Dooby, why Kathy Bates? Why? Why? Why?

Careful — I know you're new, but misspelling Peruna might incur the wrath of some of the traditionalists.

Football PA is much better. Looking forward to basketball making similar strides.

Dear lord, are we really naming the geldings "Liberty" and "Justice?" Now some on this board (VarsityShop) will say that we are being unpatriotic when we say that we do not support them being on field level.
