Now that TCU has gone undefeated...I admit that I rooted against TCU pretty much every game this year, but now that they've actually gone undefeated with some good ranked opponents and several other good OOC games that they scheduled - I actually would like to see them get their chance at one of the big dogs. As a small school, their year this year is about as good as any school from a mid-major can hope to have (minus taking down one of the really big teams like texas during the regular season in addition to undefeated).
I would be really interested to see how they stack up against texas, florida or alabama - but unfortunately it looks like they'll play georgia tech in the orange bowl which doesn't excite me a whole lot. What is it really going to mean if tcu beats GT? pretty much nothing This year is a better example than almost any year that i can think of illustrating the NEED for an 8 team playoff. Give these accomplished midmajors their credit where credit's due, because hopefully we are going to be there one day.

Re: Now that TCU has gone undefeated...If Texas loses to Nebraska in the big 12 championship game, I think there would be a lot of BCS voters putting TCU in the championship game vs. the Florida/Alabama winner. Either way, TCU shoulld be #3 after the SEC championship gane. I would hope TCU would get to play the loser of that game in a BCS bowl instead of Georgia Tech.
Re: Now that TCU has gone undefeated...
we got to see that game last year. and while it was fun to watch - what does it really mean in the overall college football scene? Mid major teams need to prove that they can compete week in and week out with the big time programs. And while their conference schedules don't allow for it, these bowl games are a chance for at least a single matchup between a top bcs and a top mid major
I would hope TCU would get to play the loser of that game as well but i don't think it'll work that way. Unfortunately, the bcs is only supposed to put #1 vs #2 and the rest of the matchups are based on region/estimated attendance etc. Everything i've seen has cinncinnati in the sugar bowl vs. the SEC loser and TCU in the orange bowl vs. the ACC.
Re: Now that TCU has gone undefeated...I would like to see TCU play in the Toilet Bowl and lose. I have total respect for what they've done, but I will never wish or root for their success. They are our archrival - you think Michigan fans EVER cheer for Ohio St......or that UT feels sorry for A&M and how bad they suck? No.

Re: Now that TCU has gone undefeated...
I agree with you and I'm not saying that I want TCU to WIN if they played for the national championship or played alabama/florida loser. I would just want them to have the OPPORTUNITY to play one of the big teams since they have earned that. I'm looking at it more as, I want to see that if we ever scheduled quality OOC games and went undefeated that we might also get the opportunity to prove our worth.

It's foolish to think that a Michigan fan would not EVER root for Ohio State. I'd want my conference to do well in bowl games to prove that my conference is the best, rivalry be damned. Just as I'd want TCU to do well and go knock off a big time opponent to prove that at least on some level mid major programs can compete. I understand being a rival and all, but you can't forget the bigger landscape. I'll guarantee you that if a one loss Michigan team was trying to get into the BCS title game, they'd root for Ohio State to win to help their strength of schedule. Here's to those that wish us well and all the rest can go to hell!!!
Re: Now that TCU has gone undefeated...
If you know anything about Michigan and Ohio State, if the fate of the world rested upon Ohio State winning, Michigan fans would still root for the opposing team... I hate TCU and they will get their BCS game and I will be rooting for whomever they play...
Re: Now that TCU has gone undefeated...I want UT to lose in the Big 12 title game (yeah, I know — good luck) so neither the Cows nor the Frogs play for a national title. I'll puke if either wins it.
Ideally, I'd like to see Bama play Florida in the SEC title game, and then either have a rematch for the national title (imagine the coronaries BCS types would have over that!) or have Cincinnati leapFROG the toads to get into the title game. Proud to be a PonyFan
Re: Now that TCU has gone undefeated...I think if Cincy wins next week they could leap TCU, they play a ranked Pitt...
Re: Now that TCU has gone undefeated...You guys just don't get it-the enemy is the BCS. Anything thay diminishes the myth of the invincibility of BCS conferences benefits SMU and all non-BCS schools-it opens the door that SMU could one day walk through. Go TCU.

Flawed Logic...
Re: Now that TCU has gone undefeated...You are thinking small pond. My Standards are to compete at a national level-apparently you think its more important to beat a small private school in Ft Worth.
