for me. I loved the win. Appreciated the big plays and the individual performances, but for me as an elder statesman, father of 4 and grandfather of 7, the most impressive part was after the game meeting the players and without an exception, encountered some of the most poite and respectful young men I have ever met. These kids just accomplished a great feat on behalf of SMU and could have been rolling on the ground, slapping hands, bumping chests, and while doing that, ignoring the fans wandering around. But these kids spent time with the fans, took pictures, shook hands, and I could have not heard more yes sirs and no sirs and thank you sirs had I been on a military base. Shawbrey, Enright, Thompson, Sanders, Padron, and several others, all the same. Polite, respect young men representing our team in a manner that can only be good for a future fan base being built by anyone who had the opportunity to meet them last night. Thanks to the coaches for their handling of these young men and especially to the parents who should be very proud of the way their sons represented their school last night.
The post by OC and his encounter with Margus is a must read for anyone who is not aware of the type of young men that we recruit to be a part of this team. I certainly would not complain to having a little "thug" within our guys when they are on the field, but this is the way we should all want them to be when they are off of the field.
