SMU Rivalry Trophies:
Battle for the Iron Skillet vs TCU since 1927
Battle for the Mayor's Cup vs Rice since 1989
Gansz Trophy vs Navy since 2009

I like the TCU-SMU game earlier in the year. TCU's offense is usually not full-speed, both teams haven't fully measured their capabilities and so the game usually harbors a slight optimism for SMU fans, and finally the game smack-dab in the middle of TCU's non-conference schedule and so we usually proceed or follow a critical game for TCU's national title hopes creating a trap-game scenario for SMU. All three are bonuses and will help us turn the table on that rivalry. Keep it where it is.

Personally, I'd like to see us create (is there one?) a trophy for SMU-Houston and make that a Thanksgiving weekend game. They're conference foes and perennial challengers for CUSA West so if SMU can start doing its part, that game would have a lot of meaning at the end of the year. A similar case could be made for Tulsa but Houston is in-state, an old SWC rival, carries bad blood between us and will probably be the better opponent longterm.

Wasn't there a cannon trophy that we had awhile back? Like a literal freakin cannon? How did we get that?
