So the schedule should be exactly the same except for adding Texas Tech instead of SFA. More of the big games should be at home too. In addition to WSU and TCU, we should also be getting Houston, Tulsa, Marshall, and UAB at home.
yes, our 3 games against the east will be the same: ECU (there), UAB (here), Marshall (here).
I root for: Mustangs, Astros & Jets!

I am also confident that A&M will do the same for the 2012 Ford date, unless we agree to play at Cowboys Stadium, which is something I have little interest in.
With all due respect, Dooby, I do not follow your sentiment. I would love for SMU to play against A and M at Jerry World. I would be there, I would be in prime form, ready to talk some smack to some aggs and vigourously root for the 'Stangs.
Larry Brown? We have Larry Brown? Cool!

Known games: TTech TCU WSU Navy Rice Houston UTEP Tulane Tulsa ? ? ?
Looks like 3 sure L's right there, but the rest quite winnable.
whos the other guaranteed loss? Houston? Navy and WSU were games we should have one this year, and althugh TCU is fantastic, you never know with a rivalry game at home : ) @Tech is tough

SMU playing the aggies in Ft. Worth would be great publicity for the program. Big time programs get to play in games like that.

RE: playing a team like A&M at Texas stadium, I have to agree that although they'd probably destroy in fan support, that would be the kind of game that could create real publicity for the team. Outsiders would pay to see us play a Big XII team in that stadium.

There are currently 2 teams with 4 losses ranked in the top 25 of any of the polls. Clemson (AP) and Stanford (Coaches, AP and Harris) both have considerably harder conference schedules than we do so I do not see SMU being ranked with 4 losses.

I think the original question was "when will we reach top 25 status?" I will stick with Jones' pre-season assessment and say we are probably a couple of recruiting classes away...perhaps by 2012? After the way this season has gone, I would not be shicked if this team got there by 2011

Houston. Until we do better than squeeking in to a winning season you have to assume a team that ends the year ranked is going to be better than us. That said, I think Houston is vulnerable, as UTEP proved.

As distasteful as it would be to go to Cowboys Stadium, especially considering the Aggies, or Tech, or whoever would outnumber our fans 2 to 1 or more, there is quite a lot of value in playing there once every so often as a recruiting tool. Baylor lost there the other night, but they got 100 recruits in the gate, many of whom might have visited elsewhere that weekend (like SMU) but were drawn to the glamor of Jerryworld.

Houston is 10-2, with road wins over OSU (was #5 in country) and Miss St. and a home win vs Texas Tech, and they are barely top 20. Plus they have the pedigree of having been to bowls in 5 of the past 6 seasons before this one and are known as one of the top CUSA teams.
SMU doesn't hit the top 25 next year without starting at least 4-0 or 5-1 or 8-2, and even then we still might not be top 25.

Houston also lost to 2 unranked teams. I am actually kind of surprised they are still ranked. Usually that is a right that is reserved only for USC and Ohio State. But I think you are right.....no way to be ranked with 4 losses, and 3 losses would still be tough for a non-BCS school, so probably not until we finish a season with only 2 losses.
