Good News
I know it's been posted on the Football forum, but i think it's equally important to recruiting. i'd been thinking about the fact that June only had 3 years left on his contract, and how that would affect recruiting ability. well, those concerns are a thing of the past with his 2 year extension. gives the HS seniors comfort that he will be here for their career at SMU.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
Re: Good News
Thats exactly the point Joe Paterno has made for a number of years. When asked how much longer he would coach, he always told recruits, four more years.

Great, great points. This will be a huge plus for recruiting. With commits like the Oklahoma RB, Fields, deciding to come here, we could be looking at some real blue chips (guys that in the past would have committed to TX or OU before even being on SMU's radar) giving SMU heavy consideration in the coming years. Knowing the coach who has turned the program around will be here for the duration of their college careers is a real enticement. Exciting stuff!!reddevil wrote:Thats exactly the point Joe Paterno has made for a number of years. When asked how much longer he would coach, he always told recruits, four more years.

Re: Good News
a 5 year "rolling" contract would be nice. He can quit when he wants to hang 'em up...and may even want to name a successor for continuity in recruiting.
