Real Estate Mustangs?
I think I posted something similar a year or two ago and got no response, so I'll try again.
I'm in real estate development (in this climate acquisition) and I am constantly running into SMU alum in this industry. Is there an organization attached to SMU that tries to connect real estate alumni? I've contacted the "real estate department" at SMU with no response. I guess it hurts that the school doesn't have a real estate school granting degrees, but this a huge missed opportunity if indeed no such organization exists because of our strength in this particular field.
If there are any real estate focused alums on the board that would be interested in forming an organization let me know. I'll try and connect with the right people at the school.

SMU has a Real Estate Society that meets twice a year. Membership is primarily SMU alums as well as current real estate students.

I do not understand why SMU does not have business lunches to encourage SMU people in support of SMU people.

Re: Real Estate Mustangs?
I am in Real Estate and know there is a group that calls it self The SMU Real Estate Society through the Cox School of Business and its headed by Chuck Dannis and I must say it is so unorganized and sophomoric, that its a joke. They have maybe two meetingsa year but don't follow up on folks that have gone to past meetings or to those who have shown interest and don't even go through the SMU Master files to connect to graduates that advertise themselves as being in Real Estate. Its also really too bad that we don't have a Graduate Degree program and/or a undergraduate degree as for hecks sakes TAMU does! We have so many successful SMU grads in RE here in DFW and around the country and not to have a real organized regular group that connects to all and meet regularly is a real crime. They don't even have a website or any social networks to connect to. I have offered several times to meet and discuss the possibility of expanding The Real Estate Society program and discuss the merits of a RE degree program and no one ever followed up to entertain the idea.
Not very impressive to say the least and the fact that no one even commented to you on these boards from the RE Society is in indicator how behind they are.

Re: Real Estate Mustangs?
Agreed.
This is where is got my graduate degree.

I was always mystified why SMU never had a school with all the big time real estate alums that have come through here...
