That's a convenient way for Mustang Club to cover it up. No, the "spirit" team never was "not going" because a final decision hadn't been made on whether they were going or not. That final decision hadn't been made because the fundraising effort was on-going. Had the fundraising effort come up short, they would not have been going.

The fact is that if the "spirit" team (band, cheer, pom) were funded the way Top 25 programs fund their "spirit" team (I realize they aren't part of the athletic department - but the university has to step up and do their part to help the athletic department as well), the final decision would have been made as soon as the decision to accept the bowl invite was made.

Only then would the "post and manifestos" be for naught.

Heck with that kinda of money we could have a band the size of Allen's Band!

You ought to see what it took to send the Allen band to the Rose Bowl Parade a few years ago. Something like 2 777's and a convoy of 18 wheelers out to LA. Then again, I would love to invite(or hire) the Allen Band to an SMU game once a year. That would easily be about 600 kids and 1400 others watching the performance. Make them spell SMU. Would be a good invite to the WSU game on 9/18. The Allen Band can make some noise and we could use the extra attendance.

While we are talking in double negatives...it was never said that the band wouldn't go. What was said was that at a specific date and time the band was not going at that moment and the decision had not been made.
