The BCS doesn't want to have a legitimate championship, so lets have our own.
Participants:
CUSA East Champion CUSA West Champion Mountain West Champion Western Athletic Champion Sun Belt Champion Mid American Champion
3 games, single elimination the first weekend. 3 remaining teams play a round robin.
Last team standing is the Division 1 playoff champion. Winner determined on the field not by the voters or the computers.

Won't happen. But I was thinking that might be a good way to bust the BCS. Kind of like what the old AFL did to the NFL. Just too many teams with their own agendas, too many pieces to the puzzle.

I agree that there are too many schools that wouldn't have the nerve to agree to something like this. But if the BCS can crown a national champion there is nothing in the NCAA rules to prevent the other conferences from declaring their own. Who died and made the BCS God?
I thought I saw Gary Patterson was saying good things about the current system. Who is he kidding? All things being equal, the BCS will never invite TCU to its big show if Alabama, Texas, or even a Big East school can make a claim to the title game.

So that there would be a division 1 football tournament. Crown a national champion. If the BCS doesnt want to participate it is there loss. They are crowning a national champion, let's crown our own.

This thread is almost like Nostradamus's' fourth quatrain
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

the way it all worked out, this year's Fiesta Bowl is the football equivalent of the NIT championship.
BCS=NCAA tournament non-BCS/non-AQ schools=NIT

Looks like the BCS has already done it. Winner determined on the field not by the voters or the computers.

Yeah, I guess it is completely ridiculous to think its a good idea for Division 1 to have a playoff system. Look at how badly it has worked out in basketball. No one is interested in March Madness.

Ask TCU, Boise and Cincy where their playoff games were held? The voters and the computers put two teams on the field that may or may not be the best in the country. The BCS/National Championship is bogus.
