Q&A with Youri Yenga

Postby PonyPride » Mon Dec 07, 2009 7:06 pm

A lot of players like to say they let their play speak for themselves. With no player is that more true than with SMU junior linebacker Youri Yenga. After two years as an undersized defensive end, Yenga moved this season to linebacker, where his size is more appropriate for the position, and his speed and strength make him a dangerous weapon against the run and the pass.

But Yenga isn't the talkative type. He doesn't strut after tackles or pound his chest after sacks, and he has no interest in talking to anyone carrying a microphone or notebook. But when SMU officially accepted the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl's bid, Yenga sat down with PonyFans.com to discuss the Ponies' first bowl bid in 25 years, his excitement for this year's seniors, and what he hopes to see and do on his first visit to Hawaii

Nice work! He's our best player, and it's cool to read how important the bowl game is to him.
Have a great bowl game, Youri!

I guess the big question is whether or not his brother will commit to SMU?

I read the DMN story about him a couple of months ago, but it sounds like you really got him to open up, PonyPride. Great stuff.

Great person off the field and an animal on the field. Hopefully he can help stop those 3 1,000 yard rushers come christmas eve! Good luck #45
