So you're saying non-BCS teams ("program(s) of limited national interest") don't deserve a shot at BCS teams even if they've played a similar SOS and remained undefeated?

Would that reasoning apply to SMU? Say we beat improved Baylor & A&M squads, TCU & Navy plus our own CUSA schedule, and go undefeated. Should we not have a shot at an undefeated Cincinnati just because we're a non-BCS team of "limited national interest"?

They got what they deserve since their coach supports the status quo. Patterson should have seen this one coming before shooting off his mouth about the BCS.

He called it like it is...win this next game and maybe come into next year with a high enough preseason ranking that if you can go unbeaten 2 years in a row...just might have a chance. I haven't looked at TCU's non-conference schedule, but they would need help from their MWC mates, too (wins over ranked BCS opponents)

And you can't prove the opposite either.

The BCS is NOT going to let a non-BCS team into the BCS National Championship game...no matter how many times you come up with a perfect season. For instance, Cincy gets just enough votes to leap frog (pardon the pun) TCU to put "that" thought out of every one's mind. And if you really think that the bowls that are tied to the BCS aren't made "aware" of the desires of the BCS when it comes to placing non-BCS teams...I have some swamp land I would love to sell to you.

TCU got fuck-ed royally and everyone knows it. They should be playing Florida and have their chance to put up or shut up. TCU playing any highly ranked BCS team would draw good interest...which is not the kind of interest the BCS wants.

Uh, actually TCU did play the ACC, twice. Both times were on the road and they beat both UVA and Clemson.

No, TCU would not have 3 losses in the ACC or any other league. They have a great team this season.

This could be us one day, so I think it is in our interest to support TCU in blowing up the current system.

BTW, TCU is a 7 point favorite over an excellent Boise St. team. This could mean that Vegas thinks TCU is legit as well or they are perceived as being a good club in the eyes of the handicapping community.

They would have 3 or more losses in the SEC as well. The bowl is meaningless (because they do not get to prove themselves against upper tier BCS teams) and that is why both TCU and Boise are not happy about it.

They're getting a 7-figure check, and I would think they could look at this game and say they can finally put some distance between themselves and Boise State as to who the better program is. May not be exactly what they want but there will be a point to prove in this game.

I think they will beat Boise by two touchdowns.

I thought I heard on the radio or TV, after the BCS sets its #1 vs #2 the B(C)S bowls look to match up conference tie ends with teams that travel with lots of fans and who will draw the best TV audience. I think Boise State, has lost a little of the WOW factor, and outside of Texas I do not know if anyone really cares to watch TCU, that is said with no disrespect. TCU being a small private school, I am sure the bowls are concerned they will not sell thier ticket allotment and will not be a great draw on TV. Can someone add some insight to that?

its just going to be a rematch of the Liberty Bowl from last year....YAAAWWN....isnt there a risk that this Bowl game might not even sell out?

Have they gotten it right since Penn St./Miami? in the late 80's?

While I take a small amount of perverse pleasure in seeing the Frogs sent to the kids table, I do think they got drilled in match-up decisions. This means that the powers that be did not want to risk another BCS team loss to a non-BCS team. I tend to agree with the posters who accurately point out that this could be us someday. The BCS dodged a huge bullet when the pass hit the ground from Colt McCoy with less than a second on the clock. Sooner or later we will have another chaos year and another non-BCS team will get hosed. TCU and Boise had a great year and deserved to face off against Florida or Cincy. But not against each other.

Um...last year's Liberty Bowl was East Carolina vs. Kentucky.

Word is that the BCS Fiesta boys took a hit this year on purpose and will be expecting a payback next year for stopping the non BCS teams from playing the BCS teams (and possibly 2 BCS embarrassing losses to non BCS teams). Also, TCU will split the check with the other conference schools so they won't be taking home a 7 figure check.
