yeah you guys do realize that all non BCS conferences share those units TCU and Boise St earn-the MWC and WAC will basically get paid half of what the BCS conference unit is worth even though they play in the same Bowls the BCS conference schools could have been selected to. There is absolutely no rational justification for this. See formula

Nine percent of the net revenues from the arrangement, which was approximately $9.6 million in 2008-09, is guaranteed in aggregate to Conference USA, the Mid- American, Mountain West, Sun Belt, and Western Athletic Conferences for their participation in the arrangement. When a team from one of those fi ve conferences plays in a BCS bowl game, the conferences will receive an additional nine percent of net revenues. When more than one team from those conferences play in the BCS bowl games, those conferences will receive an additional $4.5 million for each additional team.

This whole league superiority has got to stop. TCU would not have 3 losses in the SEC this season. If the SEC is so damn great, why were there two undefeated teams this season? I will tell you why, because everyone else was average at best. Georgia lost to Ok St. (overrated, see UT and OU games) Tenn lost to UCLA. South Caro lost to NC State. Miss St lost to U of H. Vanderbilt lost to Army and G Tech.....but Kentucky did win their tough matchup against Louisville and Arkansas beat A&M.

The mid-majors can play with anyone, they keep proving this by beating the so called "big boys" every year, but no one seems to care.

They don't have to play those teams back to back so they don't have to bring it every week. That makes a difference because your team is never beat up. TCU would be NOT undefeated in the SEC as it seems like you think. But TCU and Boise should be playing a BCS teams.

This post should be its own thread. Besides the competition factor, this is absolutely the reason why teams like TCU have an ADVANTAGE in going undefeated. :!:

I think its possible TCU might lose 2-3 in the SEC but not the ACC-please those aren't very good teams. Georgia the 8th place SEC team punked the ACC Champion. To even mention the SEC and ACC in the same breath is ridiculous.

Yes and no. TCU practically mauled everyone they played...probably because those teams were not very good as you stated including BYU and Utah, but that doesn't mean they couldn't beat a team like Florida. They probably wouldn't maul them, but could very well beat them. Until they are allowed to play that game, we will never know.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

In a one game situation with a month to prepare they probably would be able to give them a good game like Utah did. But if they hand to play Auburn, then LSU , then Ole Miss, then Georgia and then Alabama all pretty much back to back, TCU would have some troubles to say the least.

I continue to be mystified by how many people are purposely trying to diminish TCU's accomplishments over the years.

Would they be a national championship contender every year? Probably not but I think they could contend for one every now and then. Would they be conference championship contender and major bowl contender every year? You bet they would.

Look, Patterson has built this thing to a level that is better than most mid-level BCS conference schools, such as Arizona, Kentucky, Minnesota, Connecticut, NC State, etc.

He has great recruiting markets down pat. See Houston. He has great financial support in both in his personal coffers and the program's coffers and he is a great coach. He's turning this into a great job.

TCU is no longer a "one shot at them and we can beat them" type of program. I think that's a total miscalculation by many fans and the pundits. I really believe that they can go toe-to-toe with any program in the country week in and week out.

And to say they lose 3 games in a given year in big conference? Well, 9-3 or 10-2 every year in the Big 12 or SEC or PAC 10 isn't too shabby from where I stand.

TCU a level that we can get to. Going to this bowl game for us is the first step to what could a run of great proportions. The fundamentals are there.

But I'll say this. Given our national name and should we stay on the track we think we are on, we'll do in 5 years what it took TCU to do in 10 years.

I don't agree with the General very often, but I do here. 100%. Every. Single. Point.

Yes, we can get there. The object is to turn this into a program that lives beyond the tenure of any given coach. With recruiting channels. With fundraising channels. With regular, week in and week out solid attendance. Establish a *system* that can be maintained for years, then decades.

Other than with the attendance, I think Patterson is doing that. Wacker didn't. Billy Tubbs in basketball didn't. Short lived success could not live beyond the departure of the coach. I think Patterson is within a couple of years of establishing success that has a chance to outlive his tenure.

I also agree that we're starting later, but will progress faster. June's short term goal is to follow a successful season with another successful season. Then? Start building a *program* that will be successful even after he retires.

Looking forward to the ride.

TCU had a good year and deserves to play a BCS team as does Boise. But any top 20 team could have went undefeated with their schedule. I am not trying to diminish what they have done but it is the truth. If they were in the SEC they would not be going to a BCS bowl. TCU had a good year.

I think the following Top 25 teams have at least 1 loss if not more with our schedule

Boise
Oregon
Ga Tech
Iowa
BYU
Utah
Miami( in fact, they did lose to Clemson, at home)
Okie State
Ariz
Nebraska
USC
Wisconson

Going undefeated is hard no matter who you play, or who runs away from a series with you- Ole Miss {cough cough}, Ohio State {cough cough}

Its real easy for the Big boys not to play you and then say you didn't play anybody, if you keep winning- you'll see.
